Left M-Modal a year ago - to work in an

office.  I used to come back to this board all the time.  I find I come here less and less.  It has been a while, but I notice everything seems exactly the same and once again I am glad I made the choice I did.  Keep looking for jobs and take them no matter if you do have to get dressed and drive to an office and pack your lunch.  It is worth, worth, worth it.  Sorry for those still struggling and those who have NJA.  I really am.  Been there.

I never looked back - Left in September

I never turned a backwards glance after I left MT completely. It was really weird getting up and dressed and ready each morning, but I fell into it pretty good. As much as learning the new job was stressful, it was sooooo worth it.

I chose a job where I could wear scrubs (in a medical office), so that part was fine--no decisions on clothing, as they had a specific color uniform. I had chosen not to get all dolled up with make-up and such. Threw a little blush and lipstick on (no face makeup, no eye makeup). Part of the hesitation as "oh, no--I have to set aside 20 minutes for make-up." Nope, decided not to go that route. Who cares? I looked clean and fresh with my little bit of blush and lipstick. I got me a wash and go haircut, so no serious hair-styling each morning.

Go on, you can do it!

it's exactly the same because people have exactly the same attitudes - Happy with M Modal

that's all it is. Some of us love our job s. I'm with acquisitions and am so happy we were taken by M Modal

Sure, some people are happy. They still have their accounts and are still making some money, though none of us are doing as well as we were before all the pay cuts. But one of these days, these happy people will lose their accounts, be scrounging for work and trying to contact their managers with no response. THEN they'll understand how the majority on here feel.
And THAT'S THE TRUTH!!! sm - Free At Last

Exactly what happened to me, though at a different company. I came on here today to try to encourage people to get out of this field while they can, because I am so much happier now. It is scary - but it is worth it!

Hey, sista MT. I am with Acq. also and also love, love - love my job. nm

acquisition means we were bought out by M*Modal - Former JLG MT

which doesn't make a lot of sense - since most of us were bought out nm

[ In Reply To ..]
the five service areas are now West, South/SE, North, Strategic Accounts, and Acquisitions.
hrm what are strategic accounts? - sounds fishy...
[ In Reply To ..]
yikes!
strategic accounts - Old School
[ In Reply To ..]
it's the name given to one of the service areas, some hospitals that used to be in the SE region, combined with another large group of hospitals. I don't know why it's called that.

Love, Love Mmodal - Acquisitions

[ In Reply To ..]
Working in acquisitions, are you salaried employees, hourly employees, or do you do piece work? Tell me how you survive on piece work--pay your mortgage, utilities, all necessities of life on 4, 5, or 6 cents a line.

9 cpl straight plus shift differential - Acquisitions
[ In Reply To ..]
I also earn 0.09 for straight, however most all of the work is on SR which is on 0.05 a line for me. Also, Mmodal discontinued the shift differential about a year ago. I know this because I used to work the 3rd shift and lost 0.01 cent per line produced during those overnight hours.
I wondered the same thing too but calculated my lines 2 weeks ago and it included the differential - email from TSM also told anyone if they wanted to
[ In Reply To ..]
they would get a shift differential. Maybe you should contact HR?
could be part of your deal - when you were acquired
[ In Reply To ..]
MM has been known to offer such things as part of the package when acquiring an account. Pay practices in this company are all over the map.

[ In Reply To ..]
Wasn't sure if you're in Acquisitions or another BOB, but I'm in the South and get shift differential of .0075 on jobs done after 8 PM - can't remember the cutoff in the early AM - might want to go to the MModal website and see if it is under Benefits
Cutoff is 6 am - Happy with M Modal
[ In Reply To ..]
I get the shift differential too
how come I don't get the differential? - that is not right.
[ In Reply To ..]
I work very early hours and according to what u said, it ends at 6 am, they owe me 4 hours a day for a LONG time.

Umm... care to share some of your positives - because it has been downhill

[ In Reply To ..]
with this company since I have been here in 1988.

Just wondering why you love, love and love this job.

Are you a newbie for the last 4 years?? Have you ever had the $22.00 paycheck from this company and went down to below minimum wage?? I can only find one positive thing with this company which is I get paid on time for a $250.00-$320.00 paycheck.

Other than that, it is a sweat job with a chain to your desk.

I don't hate it here but - Old School

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't hate it here, but I have a better deal than most. I'm getting 10/6, I get enough work and it is all from the same group of accounts, and I have a really good TSM. Not everyone here has it as good as I do, and I realize that, and I also realize that it can end at any time. It's okay for you to love your job here, but you should temper that with a little dose of caution.

Happy with MM - Acquisitions

[ In Reply To ..]
Those who work for MM that are salaried employees and even hourly paid employees are the truly happy employees here. I would love to see if management and the CEO of this organization could pay their mortgage, utilities, food, all necessities of life on the piece work rates they pay their MTs.

Worth it! I so agree! - Free At Last

[ In Reply To ..]
I soooo agree! I worked for a different transcription company. I got laid off after 6 years when the main client changed platforms and we were no longer needed. I panicked at first, was scared to death. That was 2-3 months ago. Now I thank God I am out of the transcription world!! I only came back on here today to encourage others who are unhappy to get out of this dying, fizzling out field. There is real life out there!!

Anyone who is - "happy at MM"

[ In Reply To ..]
now, I would advise you to put cash in the bank and to make all your financial decisions based on a minimum wage or less paycheck. I made the mistake of being happy with MM and taking on a car payment. Shortly after that the downward spiral began and now I am struggling to meet that payment with my other few bills.

I am thankful that I have been granted a reprieve from the financial death sentence of MT, and will be moving on shortly. Best wishes to the inmates who still remain. May God have mercy on your souls.

My job - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't hate my job, do get my 40 hours although missing the OT that was always offered. What I don't like is the pay cuts that we have taken. We build our lives around our paychecks and what we can afford and for most of us that amount has been cut, too much for comfort. Usually the longer you are at a job your pay increases, not in this field! I enjoy my job, enjoy being at home, but have to look for either a new FT job or a PT job to supplement my losses, especially if it only continues to get worse. Would love to see it turn around and things get good again, but think that ship has sailed!
