National Medical Transcriptionist Week is May 16 - 22
What are you doing to celebrate it? I'm looking for some creative ways for our work group to celebrate. ...
I tried to post this on the company board but I guess that was the wrong place. So I am sorry for having made that error. I'm new to the forum, so I do apologize for any mistakes I make posting going forward and well in advance of making them. I do hope that I am putting this on the right board; however, if I am not some direction in that regard would be appreciated as well. Where does a post like this belong exactly? I do need some objective help with th ...
It only takes Googling phrases like "celebration day", "recognition day", "remembrance day" and such to prove to yourself that we are a nation of celebrators, recognizers and rememberers. To name but a few:
National Doctors Day - March 30
National Nurses Day - May 6
National POW Day - 3rd Friday in September
Make a Difference Day - 4th Saturday in October
Earth Day - April 22
Administrative Professionals Day - April 25
International Chocolate Day - September 13
World Alzheimer Day ...
Basically, it's been working out fine until one day last week when I received an email from the transcription manager saying that was "short on my time" on one specific day. I was confused because while I agreed to work first shift on specific days, I wasn't aware that I was strictly held to a specific schedule and wondered how they were keeping track of my hours worked because I do not punch a time clock. I assume they are keeping track of the hours I'm logged onto th ...
With the nature of world affairs and US relations such as they are, I can't help but think how wrong it is for companies in general, but specifically MTSOs, to be sending highly sensitive information overseas the way they do. It scares me to think about my social security number, date of birth, address, etc. being handled by someone who doesn't necessarily feel the sense that they must protect that information. Maybe instead of complaining about how much work is being offshored, we s ...
I just read on line that today is a national holiday in India. I was reading about the trial of the men who raped and killed that girl and the court will reconvene on Monday as today is a national holiday over there. I wonder if that will mean more work for us? Ya think??!! ...
Guess they took over for the stork? My ASR has also taken a holiday from all small words today: is, was, the, and, then, etc. I guess it has been threatened to be more productive also. Just skip half the words and voila -- twice the production.
That gets really tedious hour after hour.
Disclaimer: I am happy to have a job. Do not wish to find another one. Too old for career change. Thank you. ...
Curious which national MTSO has the easiest tests to pass for a newbie or someone coming back to the field after an extended abscence... I've heard MQ is the hardest, andyone have any others they want to mention? ...
discuss your pay in public as much as you would like. It is the law. It does not matter if you have signed a nondisclosure statement on salary as that is not legal. If you are fired for talking about your salary you have legal grounds for compensation.
Of course distributing copyrighted material is illegal, but you can talk about your work concerns and salary in public. It is the law no matter what a company tells you.
You do not have to be part of a union. You have rights as an employee ...
As MTs, we have seen over the years how our jobs just keep bottoming out more or less. Companies are taking advantage of us while they "suck up all the money" that is paid out by healthcare facilities; we just "don't count." On top of that, companies are now trying to turn us into ICs supplying our own software programs AND equipment. In 25 years of doing this, I have not seen line count pay increase one iota quite frankly. The only thing I can think of is ...
I received a job interview for an IC position with a company called National Medical Transcription with headquarters in New York. Has anybody worked with this company?
My main concern was that the company does not offer direct deposit but rather issues a check via mail. Next concern is a "transparent" means of tallying up productivity for 65 character lines and spaces included. I would appreciate any feedback from present or past contractors. Thank you. ...
Is there anybody here who worked for a hospital in the transcrption department only to have their jobs yanked out from under t hem and sent to a National such as Nuance? I know somebody who works for a local hospital and it looks like they secretly are in the process of making this move....some very strange secretive things going on that makes me wonder...... What was the process for your hospital if this happened to you????? I'm wondering if my suspicions are spot-on. &nb ...
The company I work for provides no documentation of what they are paying me for, not even on my pay stub. There is a way to check on the system but it isn't consistent with what I get paid. Any comments? ...
To all you wonderful MTs working and slaving your lives away, Happy MT Week. I appreciate you. I appreciate your kindness when I have a rant or a rave, when I'm at my wits end with the constant changing around of clients, client profiles and the never ending dings being thrown at me. I appreciate knowing that I am not alone in this struggle.
It is because of all of you, and only you MTs on this board that I manage to stay in this game. We are treated as less than second class citiz ...
Does anyone know when pay will be distributed this week? A big deal seemed to be made about getting payroll in quickly, so Im wondering if pay will be released before Thursday or if its just going to be Friday as usual. ...
Good grief. I did not change the way I edit. It so depends on how many commas they think you should have. Yes, I made an unusual (for me) mistake last week, but the rest of passing an audit is dumb luck of whether you get a realistic auditor or Ms English wannabe.
Everybody must be under pressure because of the cesspool as I see a lot of mistakes when I look up past reports to help with these mush mouths and accents. The time czar wants schedule changes, but I see no problems with turna ...
Does it now vary from week to week? I used to always know exactly what my PTO was and could calculate it but just noticed that it varied from one paycheck a couple of months back to this past week. How is this now figured? So confusing ...
Think about it; there are national days for Everything.
If patients were made aware of their ability and need to check and verify their medical information, may the problems of ILPs and ASR (and EMR) would become noteworthy outside our little MT community.
I wonder how we could start it. Maybe you need to petition Congress or something.
Heck, if there is a national day to check the 9-volt battery in your smoke detector, a national day set aside to verify the accuracy of your medical inf ...
Do you wonder how much the person makes who is sitting there reading all the First Time Right Essays? Sure would love to know that! How do I get that job? I guess I would qualify as I have reading skills. ...
I think this was a very large account and they could have divided the MTs who had this as their primary and put them on various other accounts. Yes, this would have overstaffed those accounts and more MTs would be getting NJA as we all scrambled for what work there was. Also, this way WMX would not be putting out unemployement for anyone and soon most of us would not have benefits because we couldn't keep our line counts up with NJA all the time. All in all, looks like the ...
I'm just wondering what is with companies not calling you after you have passed a test and said they will? I don't understand it. Yes, I realize that they may have several people, but is it too much to ask for a phone call to do an interview or something? I am looking for a job and when I do pass tests and get excited that I actually did and no one contacts me like they said they would, it really bothers me. ...
I just realized that no one cares about the quality of medical records anymore. I have had to go to VR and I am now making anywhere between 4 and 12 dollars/hour. I guess people care more about the quality of their hamburgers than they do peoples' healthcare. I have started to just send them through. I don't even really listen to the work. I look at it and change any major spelling errors, but other than that, what the VR says is what they get. The fu ...
Could it be that the MModal and Nuance are buying all of these smaller, better MTSOs because they want to limit our employment options? If MModal (the Q) and Nuance are the monopolizing companies, and an MT who works for them just had all she/he could take, where could she/he go?
Just a thought....
...
This phrase was added at the end of an advertisement for employment. Obviously it was in-house, but found it.... well.... rude, I guess. Although I understand their position and their experiences, to include something like this in an advertisement would certainly send me running elsewhere. Any opinions???
one last comment, and from prior experiences we have to make this statement: if you have had mutiple jobs a year, have gaps in time in your resume without explana ...
that Alliance Medical Transcription in Houston TX is hiring for acute care account with a large teaching hospital with mostly VR but some straight typing and mostly OP notes. Good luck to those who apply.
just passing this on because I have very little experience with OP notes and this was not a good fit for me. No "ulterior motives" for me. Just trying to help those in need. ...
