Could it be that the MModal and Nuance are buying all of these smaller, better MTSOs because they want to limit our employment options? If MModal (the Q) and Nuance are the monopolizing companies, and an MT who works for them just had all she/he could take, where could she/he go?

Just a thought....

It seems that is how it's going. All of the smaller and midsized companies are being bought out. I thought Transcend was too large for that to happen, but I was wrong.

It really is my dream job, and I couldn't ask for more from an employer.

That being said, every time I have an email from them I dread opening it because I'm afraid it's going to be an announcement that they've sold out to Nuance or MQ. I hate being paranoid like that, but then I realize it's not really being paranoid what with the alarming number of buyouts going on.

I'm hoping the little MTSO with which I'm so content stays well under the radar of the two massive MTSOs.

If it is a truly small company, MM and Nuance won't want them. I'm worried that Keystroke - nervous KSMT

I really love my job but I think that they are the next to go. I don't have any insider information and have not heard a rumor or anything, but it makes the most sense as they are the next largest, as far as I can tell. I think I would leave transcription for good if that happens. I don't want to work for MQ/MM/Whatever they are calling themselves now, and I have heard that Nuance is even worse. Worried.

They don't care how small they are evidently. They wave enough money around that the small companies can't resist to sell out. Which one was it that was a shocker this year? Execuscribe? The owner who verbally lashed out at those who outsourced overseas? Sold out to MM. I guess everybody DOES have their price. Very disappointing.

bring them ever closer to the "monopoly" category, look what's happening to their quality. It seems to happen with every big company that has little to no competitors.

The word "MONOPOLY" has been on my mind - re: these MTSOs for a long time, now!

I thought there were laws in this country to protect against monopolies, but I guess not. Likely they were taken off the books during the Bush administration......

I think this was a very large account and they could have divided the MTs who had this as their primary and put them on various other accounts. Yes, this would have overstaffed those accounts and more MTs would be getting NJA as we all scrambled for what work there was. I'm just wondering what is with companies not calling you after you have passed a test and said they will? I don't understand it. Yes, I realize that they may have several people, but is it too much to ask for a phone call to do an interview or something? what will happen when the doctors start using templates and no longer have us to edit their reports. at some point they still have to dictate text, right. or will they be using templates for everything and just pulling information from the EHR. just curious how that is going to be with doctors completely being left on their own and accountable for their own records... for example, take the worst dictator you have and try to imagine them seeing their reports without any of the editin ...

First, VR was going to replace us. When that didn't work, now we -- American MTs -- are fine-tuning VR so the Indian MTs can replace us. And to make sure this happens, MTSOs are paying us unfair, unlivable wages to force us out, thus forcing clients to accept what they get from the Indian MTs because there won't be enough qualified American MTs left.
