I had to remove so much "canned text" output! - gone crazy

Oh goody, all patients now have lungs that are clear to auscultation no matter what was dictated, et cetera, et cetera. I want to smack every one in this company who thinks that it is okay to program the SR recognition software to automatically output such!

I know. It is just awful! I have had several where none of the text is correct and it is even worse if we have to change the dictator's name. Ugh.

Then, I send a note to the TSM that the output was bad because the dictator entered was not the dictating physician.

but... they tell you you can be sued for thousands if any of this HIPAA violation got out for error on YOUR UNPAID PART .. I'd just say, "Screw 'em". You're not getting paid for it, but they can take your future salary, house, etc.????

MTs ..... wake up ... puleeeez!! They already took our thumbnail, then thumb, then hand, arm, .... next, they'll take our firstborn, if we let them. (HINT: Lawsuits are expensive, esp. if you were not compensated for any wrongdoing in the first place. MTSOs & MDs have lawyers ... we cannot afford them.

can an employee be sued financially if they are not being paid for the work on which the fault lies.

Of courses, if this we pushed onto the MTSO, they would still shove the look-up, verify, cc, demographics ... on our shoulder & compensate us, like may a nickel a name, etc. They will have covered their greedy behinds ... don't do it, MTs. They've taken food off of our table, our homes, our dignity & self-respect, and for a lot of us, our health and sanity.

Who all due consideration for patient safety, privacy, etc... guess who gets the whip when things go wrong? You're right if you think that manure flows downward... Hospitals will protect MDs. MTSOs figure it is easier to get us peon MTs than is is to get a higher-than-thou client, with thousands to spend .. guess what, guess who gets goosed.

I am a retired RN who cared more about my patients than anyone around me. Yet, I found time and again I had to cover for misspelled, etc. doctors' instructions. I was also told again and again, if heads were to roll, guess what?? OK.. I would WELCOME any intelligent discussion.

In short, if you had a legal duty to protect the patient, i.e., doctor/patient ... in effect, that duty had to have been bound by a financially-contingent basis. We are the MTs who are NOT COMPENSATED FINANCIALLY FOR HOLDING PT. INFO. PRIVATE.. enough said. I am not having this BS shifted on me & my family for something I'm not even paid for ... O.K?

If you believe the laws, court decisions exist and you believe you could win the case, please pursue it. I am sure you can find plenty of plaintiffs to be interested parties for the suit. Although, I certainly hope you would not let our settlement go to ADHI like it did with our last class action suit.

from ASR!!!! Have this report where the dictator not only is standing RIGHT ON TOP of someone else who is talking, the ASR is catching it, and I am having to remove more than I add. Also, she is saying 'uuuuuummmmm" every other word and the ASR is catching it as "home" and I have to delete that too.... Sigh......... ...

Anyone have any good websites for Instant text tutorial or questions? I did read through productivity talk and did find what I needed. I have not used this software in years. I use autotext, but I would like to use the line counting software that comes wtih IT. I am trying to figure out a short cut to copying text, right clicking on IT , clipboard statistics, and logging each note. Any thoughts on how to do this with keystrokes and NOT the mouse? I was forced to switch to Windows 7 and I found that Stedmans Smartype was no longer compatible. After shedding some tears, I am searching for a new one. Does anyone have any suggestions about any medical text expanders that are good and work similar to Smartype (that work within WORD). Does anybody work for a company that pays less for something called "qualified text" or in other words pays less for templates, like 10 cpl for transcription but only 5 cpl for the template lines? Were you with them when they paid full rate for those lines? I am trying to find out how much impact (perhaps percentage) this has on the bottom line - a paycheck.
