ago and it stated I got a raise in my hourly wage (used for time off). Shocked but pleased, very much so. I am not going to ask anyone about it because I won't look this gift horse in the mouth!!! And, I get a reasonable hourly rate for transcribing. I don't have any speech rec jobs, ever. The postings I see here are so different from my experience and yes, I am very happy about my situation. I feel badly for others on here that are getting nothing!

I may have done QA on reports that some of you here have done, and if I offended anyone I in that, I am sorry. Until yesterday at 3:30 in the middle of a report, I worked for MModal as an MME, doing QA, speech recognition and transcription; and, I think, it was doing the QA that brought about the end of my 30+ year career in Medical Transcription. I am glad, anon, that you got a raise. If your speed is increasing, you certainly deserve it. Since MMODAL (formerly MedQuist) started paying their MMEs on production a few years ago, I got those letters every 6 months and my hourly (yes, it is hourly and it is used to calculate what they pay you when you are on paid time off) wage went from $19+/hr doing solely QA for over 12 years to, 2 weeks ago, $7.25/hr (minimum wage in Idaho) and as of 3:30 yesterday, applying for unemployment. On behalf of all the other MMEs still working for MMODAL, I would simply ask all of you doing transcription and speech recognition to, please, I beg you with all my heart, do you utmost best in all that you transcribe. You, no doubt, already do; but please try to keep in mind when you send in a report laden with QA markers because the sound quality was the worst you have ever heard, and your pay is based on production, that the pay of the MME who is supposed to listen to every one of those blanks and do their best to fill them in, is also based on production, and only 40% of the lines in that report will be counted towards their production, averaged in with the rest of their transcription and speech recognition, and their quality standard requirements are the same as yours, 99%, which for me was not the problem. Some MMEs somehow manage to meet all their requirements and are still working; unfortunately, I could not, and I am not.

I have signed on as anon many times and the current ones in this thread are not me but, I support what they say and I have that right. To be called a liar is just wrong. The statement someone made here yesterday was that they didn't believe what the person was saying, calling them a liar but not using the actual word. Unreal and just plain down and dirty name calling, playground bullies. Sorry for them if they need to pull others down to make themselves feel good, and pathetic.

But consistency in a moniker is helpful and I can understand someone asking about that. There are many people on here who post with the same moniker all the time and I'm guessing that isn't their real name. I would think "OldLadyMT Smith" would be a bit cumbersome on a drivers license... ;)

A few weeks ago, for no reason that I can find, I cannot get the first letter of a sentence to be in all caps automatically, (unless I do it manually.) The same for the letter " I " by itself when typed. It was always automatic and now all of a sudden it is doing this and I cannot figure out how to change it back. (1) Do you only fail if you fail a final at the end of the course, or are there tests throughout the course you have to pass to continue on? Just an update for the posters I was speaking with the other night about reactivating my application at MQ and going part-time... Apparently once you're hired and have accepted a position, you do remain in the system and all it takes is reactivation to put you back into the process. The rep I spoke with was very nice and emailed the appropriate department to contact me tomorrow to get everything reactivated and continue processing me as a new hire. I'm not sure if testing ...
