A couple more questions for Nuance MTs . . . - H

Sorry to keep bugging you guys, but I figured you all would level with me. Does Nuance provide you with a computer, or do you have to use your own? Are your paychecks on time?

I guess the biggest question is do you normally have a steady flow of work? Right now it's so bad where I'm at that I sign on around 8 a.m. and sit here well into the evening trying to get in 6 hours a day. I realize you run out of work from time to time, that's normal; but it's so bad right now that nobody has put in 8 hours since Columbus discovered America because they've shipped it all to India, and it's like that all across the region. There's no work even on the weekends.

Nuance sent me the link to test, but I don't want to jump out of the frying pan and into the fryer. I'm sure you guys all know what I'm talking about.

Well, I think there are a lot of variables for the rest of your questions. Yes, I normally have enough work, HOWEVER, I came in with one of the bought up companies and still on same accounts and schedule. Work 5 different accounts, always have. Do run out of work around holidays and get low other times, however, I have been able to make up lost time due to no work. They keep the TATs pretty tight. So, it is difficult to answer the work volume question since so many people have come from different companies, and I have no idea what is going on with them. I'm on acute care.

I agree with the other poster on this subject. I was just acquired through Transcend, have three great accts and have a great TL and ROM. Work volumes have their low times, but not very often and I have been able to get in my hours every week since the transition was final. I am trying to keep a positive attitude about it all, at least I have a job. It may not pay as much as I used to make, but with the incentives thrown in (If I continue to get them), it equals out and I can still survive.

I have worked for Nuance for a couple of years. Pay is always on time.

I have been moved around numerous times because my accounts get sent overseas after we "train" them. So I will have lots of work for a few months and then nothing for a month or so and then get moved to a new account and start the process over again.

I find it rather difficult to make line count and certainly can't get much over minimums.

Also, QA at Nuance is hard core.

I am assigned to 4 accounts, 1 new about 2 months ago and the other 2 a few weeks ago. At first there was tons of work, OT every weekend and now...nothing. There is no work ALL DAY LONG. ago and it stated I got a raise in my hourly wage (used for time off). Shocked but pleased, very much so. I am not going to ask anyone about it because I won't look this gift horse in the mouth!!! (1) Do you only fail if you fail a final at the end of the course, or are there tests throughout the course you have to pass to continue on? I assume if you do not pass a test to pass on, they cannot charge you for the course. (2) Did they ever tell you how much that would be? Have had me feeling as if some of us who have been at Transcend longer were not offered what they have been offering recently, maybe that is why I have seen so many people leave. Just an update for the posters I was speaking with the other night about reactivating my application at MQ and going part-time... Apparently once you're hired and have accepted a position, you do remain in the system and all it takes is reactivation to put you back into the process. The rep I spoke with was very nice and emailed the appropriate department to contact me tomorrow to get everything reactivated and continue processing me as a new hire. I'm not sure if testing ...

First, I had assumed that a Microsoft Word/Office Starter would be included -- it's not. I'd never done an upgrade before (late adopter/new machines) so that was an unwelcome surprise.
