I typed 65-year-old patient instead of (a 65-year-old patient). I am sure this error caused the patient to die, LOL. I would like to see one of the suits try to do our job for a day. Mmodal what about paying A LIVING WAGE.

have put the hypens in 65 year old. i was corrected for doing that and they took them out.

"65-year-old patient" definitely gets hyphens. If it was "the 65 year old did so and so"...then no hyphens. If someone took them out on you they were wrong. 8-year-old boy...the 8 year old cried...

You actually need a hyphen in both of the examples stated above : 8-year-old boy and the 8-year-old (When the age is an adjective that comes before the noun and modifies the noun, or when the age is a noun, hyphenate).

You do NOT need it when you state, "The boy is 8 years old."

i was kind of being sarcastic, and just adding to the conversation by mentioning that my typing 65-year-old was 'corrected' to 65 year old. just wanted to clarify why i don't bother reading what QA corrects anymore. they have no clue what is correct.

Think of that poor person's family! I know the spectre of the man I killed when I put "was" instead of "were" a fortnight ago still haunts me each night. Demanding to know why I killed him with my blatant negligence. I tried pointing out to this tortured apparition that his doctor gave him a seven digit social and couldn't spell his name, or that he had been prescribed "sertralazine," but it didn't shift the blame. I tried arguing that half the time the QA staff are just as baffled by these idiot doctors. I recalled managers past who were blatantly illiterate and whose letters of chastisement for my quality errors had been written at a 7th grade level.

But nothing will erase this stain upon my very soul! If only - amidst that sea of run on sentences, dangling participles, sentences ending in prepositions, single number lists, made up words, bizarrely adamant demands for improper punctuation, gustatory and digestive noises, and all manner of dictation errors - I had seen my mistake.

And while my shame is not so visible as those poor souls branded with the scarlet PM for their own crimes against humanity, I have to bear that weight in my heart and know what I've done for all my days. There are times when I envy my ghostly tormentor, for at least he doesn't have to work for this company...

I'm petitioning for Edgar Allan Poe to be posthumously awarded the position of Chief Quality Officer for M*Modal. Honestly, there aren't many people with the necessary obsession with death and guilt to administer the company's quality policies LOL.

And it does weigh heavy upon my soul. In those times of self doubt and guilt I try to remember all the patients I helped save. Just this week the doctor said the patient's pulse ox was 17 and I had the common sense to leave that blank. Although, with a pulse ox of 17, I may have been too late to save the patient. However, there are plenty of times I wasn't too late, Iike the many times I left out a med the doctor prescribed that was on the patient's allergy list, or a med dictated in mg instead of mcg. As I think about, I've helped many more patient's than I've killed with misplaced commas. So, when the guilt starts to overwhelm me, I try to focus on that.

ASR stated the patient had an antrum pregnancy (how painful would that be). I corrected the report to intrauterine pregnancy. Of course Mmodal will never acknowledge that I was able to save this patient.

I tried to appease my ghost with the Mperks deals that Mmodal was offering. However, he said that Mperks was useless and that he could see through Mmodal's BS.

In the end he did feel pity for me though as I work for Mmodal and that was enough punishment.

By the way I hope Edgar Allan does get the position of Chief Quality Officer, LOL.

that the only reason they do this is to have enough little dings to fail you on your audits, put you on 100% QA and reduce your salary. How else can someone who was considered one of the best for 40 years suddenly be expected to work for 3 cpl?

All of the sudden, it is hung on the download screen. The box popped up saying "downloading job #xxxxxxxx. Getting job details." And then the log out button is below that. Explorer 8 on Medquist computer? They sent me a new computer because the fan went out in the old one and the new one had Explorer 8 on it. Now anything internet-based such as DocQmanage (client profiles, etc.) the text has letters that are different colors, making it very hard to read, and tech support cannot figure out how to fix it. I recently accepted a position with a company because this company had supposedly obtained a huge account. After completing the paperwork, sending it back, training on the account and working for about 3 days, I was told that the account was lost. I always thought it was optional to spell out 1st, 2nd, or 3rd per AAMT BOS so now I will go look for it.
