I'm beginning to hate holidays! - smmt

Posted: Jan 19, 2015

Dear Dictator:  What makes you think I can understand what you are dictating when the baby is screaming it's head off, and the toddler is sitting on your lap having loads of fun banging something (the phone?), the dog starts barking, and you decide to yawn on top of all that?

and don't forget - inagreement

and don't forget the TV playing in the background! and the pauses, while dictator stops to watch to keep up with the program.

I once had some imbecile dictate while he - was driving his kids in his dunebuggy.

Up and down sand dunes, no less. So lots of squealing and shrieking in the background. I hope he rolls it someday.

It will probably be in the middle of a dictation - sm

and you'll get gigged for not understanding what he says while he is rolling..Doctors, their arrogance is amazing

This is not necessarily related to the holiday, and I have shared this before. However, I just finished with an orthopedic surgeon who dictates WHILE he is either doing surgery or overseeing surgery. I get "abduct that a little more" sprinkled in with the dictation and the constant screeching of whatever drill or shaver they are using. My poor aching ears.

Dr. King, I too have a dream, but mine is very simple. It is just for the doctors to dictate slowly, coherently and without a ton of background noise.

Aren't they all breaking regulations? Dictating about patients outside of work? I would think so and they need to be reported.

I used to be on an account where every Monday--sm - anon

the physician would dictate their preop notes at home in the evening. Over the course of the year I got to hear their child practicing the piano and then the violin. Sometimes the child would talk to her mother and the mother would whisper quietly to her questions. It was definitely irritating.

I honestly don't think that people realize just how much those pesky phone lines pick up. I used to work for a transcriptionist back when you dialed into phone lines to get the work..Well she would tape them and I would pick it up from here, transcribe, and return. I was new, now I know what she was doing was illegal..But anyway, I could hear her hubby in the background abusing her. Always suspected it, but never had proof..Nothing I could do, as she would never admit to anything. So as soon as I could I found a real job, and that is how I started my MT career.

Jul 09, 2011

I HATE that I am tied to my office just waiting for work to come in on two different companies.  I HATE that I just quit a third company because of LACK OF COMMUNICATION (gave my notice to Keystrokes, no response from ANYONE).  What is wrong with these people?  They demand certain things of us but we have no rights?  I HATE HATE HATE it and as soon as I possibly can find another job, I will LEAVE MT WORLD FOREVER.  I HATE THAT I HAVE NO LIFE WITH THIS PROFESSION.  H ...

End Of My Rope. Hate My Job, Hate What Has Become
Feb 18, 2014

of the medical field in general. What happened to all the American doctors? Has it become so blasted easy for foreigners to come over and get a job as a doctor or are Americans so damn-ass lazy that they don't want to get the education? Or is to so blasted expensive that no one can afford to become a doctor unless you are a foreign student? So freaking sick and tired of all these foreign dictators who speak so fast and sloppy. What the heck is going to become of our health care when we can& ...

P.r.n. At The Beginning Of Sentence?
Jan 07, 2011

P.r.n. Or P.R.N. At The Beginning Of A Sentence
Mar 24, 2012

This has always bugged me.  It looks better with P.R.N. (all caps) at the beginning of a sentence, instead of P.r.n. (just first letter cap'd).   Also, P.O. or P.o. at the beginning of a sentence. 1.  Bactrim. 2.  P.R.N. or P.r.n. fentanyl. 3.  P.O. or P.o. steroids. 4.  Potassium.   Any suggestions? Thanks!   ...

Not Following CP's Is Beginning To Catch Up.
Oct 04, 2012

Some clients starting to notice and complaining. But geez, some of those CP's are so lengthy and convoluted and laden with so many things we do not get paid for. Of course, the longer the CP, the more likely the client is to complain. ... Some CP's are so long and involved, those accounts really shouldn't be farmed out to those who normally do the account. To be unfamiliar with an account with so many peculiarities is inviting trouble. Choices, choice, go through that CP and m ...

Mar 20, 2010

No replies to Oncall for 6 -7 cpl.  Look down a few ads and see the pathetic one put on by Lee Perfect.  She cannot get anyone to type and says "sad but true."  It just may be that the time for the MTSOs has arrived, meaning that sooner than may have been expected they will be begging for MTs to come to work for them and it will fall on deaf ears and very still fingers.  I think most of us who have been in this profession for years have "finally had it." Why Does The Audio Randomly Start At The Beginning On DQS 7?!
Jun 25, 2012

Shortcut To Return To Beginning Of Audio?
Jan 24, 2013

Does anybody know if there is a keyboard shortcut to get back to the beginning of the audio?  With 6.whatever you just went back to the beginning of the text and then did control m to put the audio there and went to the beginning because of the skip markers, now with no skip marker, it only goes back to where the actual report starts, not the beginning of the ADT, if it will go back at all.  I like 7 way better in all other aspects, but having to manually slide the audio back over with ...

Landmark Transcription - Beginning To Have My Doubts
