Helpful QA feedback - anon

Posted: Sep 14, 2010

Have a hospital where you are to phonetically spell name if not given (it wasn't except to call him "Steven")  QA so kindly sent me QA feedback and the only thing on there was that apparently Steven was actually spelled "Stephun."  Is that ACTUALLY going to be of any help in the future?  QA wonders why we have an attitude?  DON'T WASTE ANY MORE OF MY TIME THAN IS ALREADY BEING WASTED.

We have a nasty QC who only sends stupid stuff like that- never any positive feedback, just nasty stuff like "the client was able to fill in your blanks easily" on reports that are over 2 months old! It is easiest to just hit delete and let it go. And who the heck spells "Steven" as "Stephun." Dumb.

I can't remember the last time I sent something - to QA.

I'm not getting my pay docked for it.

It's actually quite refreshing not to get nasty QA notes that are completely pointless.

So, youre ticked because QA let you know the actual spelling - of the persons name for future reports? I dont und

So given this example, would you really make a note for yourself on this particular patient, who may or may not ever be dictated again, or are you able to commit it to memory? I agree, this was nitpicking.

I'm sure the individual in question would prefer his name be spelled correctly...duh - nm

I Don't Get It Either - MT

I don't get it, either. How is informing you of a correct spelling of a name "nitpicking." First of all, QA didn't audit your report and this isn't going toward an audit score. Even if it was, seriously, you wouldn't get marked down for it.

Touchy, touchy. If that name was me in the report, I'd want it spelled correctly. Sounds like common sense to me.

If you have that hard of a name... SPELL IT - geez...

How many MTs work here? Any one of us could get his/her work.

What are the odds of this 1 MT getting this same doc? It is not like we have primary accounts anymore! We are bounced all over the place.

If the name is that darned hard, have the doc spell it. NOT OUR JOBS TO GUESS! HIPAA STUFF, YA KNOW!

Wasn't me! LOL - QA gal

Don't blame me. I didn't do it. LOL

I'd like to post my tips for getting through the day:  I have at least 8 different accounts (so far, keep getting more...) I made a print out of each client profile, but for quick reference I have colored post it notes with tips like: stacked/nc (for H&P and ROS),   means stacked, mixed case (no caps...) pt name (+ or -),    patient's name allowed or not. date format #         Some accounts allow the date to ...

Helpful Hints?
Mar 12, 2010

I got an email today with a bunch of FYI... do it this way, type it that way.  I suppose it will be helpful at some point, but I just got feedback... back and for the first time ever I was corrected to type H and P instead of H&P.  How do you type it, does anyone know how it is supposed to be?  I think H and P looks stupid. Also, doc dictated vital signs:  see nursing notes and then went back later and changed it to unremarkable.  The QA changed it back to see nursi ...

Helpful Kitty
Jun 09, 2011

My kitty, who used to lie quietly under my chair, has just taken to sitting under my desk and "helping" me get through my transcription by pushing the foot pedal when I take my foot of it.  Short of putting her in the other room, which I may have to do, does anyone have any ideas how to get her to stop this?   She has also started licking my feet.  And yes, she has fresh water, clean litter box, and I just fed her.         ...

Just Something I Want To Pass Along That Could Be Helpful
Sep 24, 2012

I, I think like a lot of the MTs on here are getting fed up with Express Scribe and the fact that you have to go to the Pro Version and downgrade to the free.  Stupidly on Thursday, I removed my copy of ES to install the version that the company I was going to work for uses.  Well, now, I cannot even configure the footpedal unless I purchase the product or one of their footpedals (my footpedal is an IN-USB-1 which has worked on Express Scribe in the past), but now, it is not even on th ...

Some of you don't need me to tell you this, but others might benefit from this advice.   Reading through the posts on this coding training, I am seeing some legitimate questions and concerns, but also some that are so off the wall that they are either the product of the world's worst paranoid or someone who is intentionally trying to discourage you. The content and tone is a lot like some of the negativity that gets posted on the coding board every time some one asks about coding ...

Regarding Helpful Suggestions From People Who Are Doing Well
Dec 02, 2011

Someone else has already suggested what I was going to say, going over your resume and making some changes. Another good idea is to get together with some MTs who are successful. Just as negativism rubs off, so does success. I've learned quite a bit from my friends who were successful years before I was. They've been at it a long time and are still going strong. Just as in any career, we each have our ups and downs, but we do well overall. Part of the reason why is, we keep learning f ...

Helpful Hints For MTs Leaving The MT Industry
Aug 01, 2012

As someone who worked as a professional full-time MT for 31 years (most of those years at home), I've learned the ropes the hard way when transitioning over to the "public workplace."  I'm here to offer encouragement to others who need to find another career in order to make a decent living.  I do still work 15-20 hours at home as an MT online, but I work a full time job in a completely different sector during the day.  I finally have the job of my dreams, and I absolute ...

QA Feedback?
Nov 02, 2009

I got feedback on a report today, CRITICAL FEEDBACK.  The doctor dictating was absolutely horrible, worse than horrible. I could not understand him, tried my hardest and before I uploaded it sent a note to QA asking for a sample of his work, explained that I could NOT UNDERSTAND HIM.  In reviewing the revisions, I don't agree with many of them.  I still don't hear what the QA inserted.  I dont' agree with it and I'm angry that it was returned to me with C ...
