Found out why my benefit rate went down - anon

Apparently they count work availability hours in your benefit rate calculation so you are getting dinged for not being able to work. If I can't work, I shouldn't be dinged for it IMO. That is why mine went down $3.00 an hour, lots of no work issues.

On the MModal Intranet, hover over Department, then click on Human Resources, then click on Policies. In the bottom right-hand corner you'll find all the policies. It's called Benefit Rate Policy. They include everything when calculating the rate including unfortunately the minimum wage Work Availability. :-( At least it's only 6 minutes now instead of 15!

So do I understand right? Work availability... - is paid at minimum wage?

My Work Availability is based on minimum wage. :-( In some states, people get their benefit rate. Those states are listed on the policy too. I thought my benefit rate should have been about the same but it went down over a dollar an hour and I'm guessing that's why. That's totally unfair. It should be based on production, not lack thereof due to circumstances beyond our control.

OK, yes that is ridiculous. - Should be paid at current bene rate!

I was unaware of this! I always thought that work availability was paid at the current benefit rate. It seems obvious that it should be so. Oh well, learned something new - The More You Know!

i.e., 15 minutes each NJA (previous time paid for NJA)/6 minutes each NJA (current time paid for NJA)?

If so, us Californians are really hurting as we have 4 hours paid NJA.

Maybe that is why I only got a whole 7 cent raise.

I thought I was prepared for the benefit rate letter. As far as I could tell, my pay had been at least the same and once in a while actually a few dollars higher. So, how can my benefit rate go DOWN $1 PER HOUR??????????? I was prepared that it would not be higher, but I think this is just plain wrong. Are you kidding me? Now I am down to $10 an hour for my benefit rate. I pulled out all my old rates and it shows a steady decline. Seriously, it CAN'T be all me. I have dropped from $17.25 to $16.16 to 14.39 to 13.58 to 12.56 to 10.60 to now 10.00. Is everyone else going through the same? For those of us that are still hanging on by a thread, did your benefit rate fall? I just got my letter...lost another $1. Has anyone received a letter about calculating your new benefit rate? I have had the same rate since probably last spring. I don't think they are calculating them every six months even though they say they do. I went on vacay in June and I am making the same benefit rate now that I was then. That was 8 months ago.
