Help on using Fluency and SR - too slow

What is the best way to make required lines in Fluency? Got my hand slapped today being too slow.

ask for what do they call it? - that mentoring program?

I can't think of the name right now! but your QC is the person responsible for it. Somebody help me, what's it called?

My line count, unfortunately, has been totally dependent on the quality of the SR. Sadly, I am back on the bad account again with horrible output.

After watching me work, the mentor said there was nothing she could tell me except to type it (subtext being, MM SR stinks).

They whine about us moving faster but then moan and groan about quality. I've gotten to the point where I put what the dictator says, no more, no less. I limit my researching to 20 seconds per blank. I also look through the report before listening and fix it up (headings, put in the commas, etc.)and then I speed up the dictation to 1.4 and higher and speed right through it.

I too take a quick look through the document and fix the headings, put in commas, punctuate and correct anything absolutely obvious, and format the ROS and PE. I have so many accounts, some with wildly stupid demands, that I have to do the ROS and PE format first to make sure I get it right. Stopping continuously for punctuation drives me crazy and also interrupts keeping track of what is going on with the patient.

I have also taken to a lot more retyping and not cleaning up anything the doctors say. They get what they get. I am also now letting the finer points of punctuation go. I just don't get paid enough to be OCD about anything anymore.

I get so angry with the problems with MM ASR that IT will not correct that costs me money because of the extra time it takes to fix the report, especially the same stuff over and over (gotta rant here).

Despite how hard I try, I normally only get 160 lph. If I get a good report, I can get slightly over 200. Face it, your lph almost solely depends on the quality of the ASR!!

If your accounts suck bigtime like mine do, assertively state that most of your lack of speed is due to the terrible quality of the ASR.

I've started doing the same thing in retyping and not fixing the way they might want us to so that "ASR can learn" because "ASR is not ever going to learn." Don't you know that since I started doing it, I actually increased line count and made more money this paycheck than the previous few. I also am learning to not be so OCD about finding a doctor's name in the database; if I can't find it after a few tries, then I let it go with either a blank if client profile says so or blank it if it is an assistant or anesthesiologist for op reports. I figure if the doctor can't speak clearly to give a name, why should I spend "hours" looking for it. Also too, I do less research for blanks like I did previously. I do watch my statistics and am trying to consistently stay over 250 per hour, but its a constant work, work, work, focus, focus, focus. good luck!

Use your expansions as much as possible. For example, if you have to look up a word, put it in the expansions in several forms (i.e., spelled correctly, spelled incorrectly) -- never look up a word more than once. Get creative!

Lay off the mouse - learn your keystrokes

Try learning 5 new shortcuts or keystrokes every day. Ctrl-S for search, Ctrl-N to search for a doc, etc. Use F1 to see the list. By keeping your hands on the keyboard you will increase your speed. Also try to edit as the doc is talking, looking ahead to format headings, using your Ctrl-M and Shift-Ctrl-M to move your cursor. A 2 minute report should take you no more than 3 minutes to finish.

I suspected this because I thought "I know I typed that correctly" but this time I saw it happen. I'm doing a standard report and typed metaphyseal awl, but Fluency changed it to metaphyseal scar, it just changed period. How does that happen? Lord have mercy, I really hate this system. ...

Loaded 7.4 on my own computer. Downloaded and put icon on desktop but I am unable to open it. I sometimes will have this problem if I load links from MM through IE. I used Chrome and FireFox but still unable to open... Spoke to techs in India and they said it is because I'm using my own computer and to contact a domestic tech through my TSM. You guys know so much so I thought I would send this out to you :) Anyone?? ...

Does anybody else have lag when they are straight typing? I had this for awhile on their company-provided with inadequate specs (even though they still sent it as an "upgrade" for Fluency) and figured it was due to inadequate RAM since everything else was so slow. However, I recently decided to just set up an account on my personal computer with Win 7 and 3 times more RAM than required and, although everything else is pleasantly super fast, I still get laggy when straight ...
