Darn, I didnt get on either list - in the Battle of the Blanks

One of their dumber ideas - sm

It pretty much rewards the lazy. The ones who, before the contest, couldn't be bothered to research the blanks or spend more than a second on them. It also encourages guessing. Those who bust their butts to fill in blanks but just have cruddy accounts with cruddy audio are given the shaft. It's like the suits have no clue about their audio issues or how bad a dictator can be. I'm sorry, I'm not going to flush my integrity down the pooper just to get on that list. As an SDHA, I've QA'd some of those people on that list. Not impressed.

I prefer to stay off the list - sm

Its just another way to try and fly under the radar..I do the best I can, same as always. Sorry I am not perfect especially when you give me garbage to work with as a starting point. Patient care is WAY more important to me.

Wow. - sd

I have consistently been on the second list (lowest percentage). I have won two gift cards, which I am very appreciative of. I rarely if ever have blanks and its not because I am lazy or typing incorrect words...it's because I am Tier III and have been an MT for 10+ years and know how to research. If you are happy to be not on the list, that's great. If not, don't name call people who are.
Are you leaving QA markers or blank lines? - nm

ends up doing VR all day, and I constantly have distorted audio with chunks missing, horrible whispering and slurring ESLs who dictate while eating lunch with cackling nurses beside them, etc. I have reports every day with blanks. I refuse to guess and fail an audit trying to win a silly blanks contest.

Your tier or experience have nothing to do with it. I am an MME, tier 3, with 35 years experience; starting on a typewriter with carbon paper.

It is impossible for anyone in our BoB to win, as our accounts require QA markers for any referenced person, physician, or facility not in ADT. Even if the doctor spells "Mercy Hospital" we can't put it. You can research and Google "Dr. John Smith" all you want; he still gets a QA marker. These are clinic accounts, so only those physicians in the clinic are listed, and there are no hospital or facility names to access. Unfortunately, this means that almost every report has at least one QA marker.

Unless they made some sort of concession for CP requirements, it isn't a fair contest. Period.

It's what happens when people who don't do the work, make the rules.
10+ whole years? - Wow yourself

I'm an SHDA with 10+ years of experience and had been nominated for employee of the year last year, and I definitely know how to research. I'm not on the low list. You know why?? It doesn't matter diddly how much experience you have, what tier you are, or how good you are at researching. When you constantly get audio with pieces missing or accounts where any doc not in the database must be blanked, or a teaching hospital where discrepancies are in every other report, you are going to have a high percentage no matter how good you are. If you are an SHDA it's even worse. I just found out that blanks we can't get during QA are counted against us. That's one blank bringing 2 employees down.

Since this contest, I've QA'd people who leave a 10-underscore blank where it should be a marker, and I've seen so much guessing or just leaving things out. It's horrible what this contest is doing.

Get off your high horse and count yourself lucky you have good accounts.

Not the OP but . . .
I have been an MT/ME for over 20+ years and have not made the "list" and am also a tier 3. I would like to thimk I too know "how to research," but sometimes it is impossible to decipher due to many factors. Great for you. Not all people share your thoughts or mine. Just an opnion that differs from yours and she/he seemed to have stirred up some anger with you.
If I were a super, I'd be focused on auditing those with hardly any blanks... - nm

Been doing this for 17+ years..And the dictation and audio has consistently gotten worse. As I have progressed through the ranks from a Teir I, I have only gotten better AND taken a 12K paycut. I reasearch the heck out of everything, however, I will not guess. AND since the company does not make the doctor's responsible for the garbage they dictate, I DO.
You cant research - Mt

When you cannot make out what they are saying because of sound quality, foreign accents or just horrible dictating. I have one hospital guaranteed to pretty much have blanks everytime...was even told by my TSM at the time for certain doctors at that hospital to send with blanks no matter how many bacause they were so bad...not sure how I am supposed to reduce those blanks...and really do not care. I am losing tomuch money as it is to take too much time listening.

whiners - whatever

[ In Reply To ..]
They should call this the MModal Whiners board. Nothing at all constructive or helpful to other MT's, just a bunch of cry babies. Seriously, if you hate your job that much, go work at McDonald's, stand out front and demand $15/hour and then maybe you all can just be happy?? No excuses. Our Walmart welcomer is like 90 years old. My son has a job and he is 15. My husband works 70 hours a week in the food service industry. I type and make very little, but enough to help and stay home with my kids. You people do nothing but complain and moan and heartache when all you need to do is suck it up and do your job or move on! Pretending like this is the only thing you could possibly do, what a joke! I see now hiring signs EVERYWHERE. Go for it. Unless you are physically unable to do so or live in rural areas where there are no other jobs, then sorry - but GET A LIFE AND GET A JOB YOU CAN STOMACH. If you spent as much time being thankful to be working and less time moaning about how bad you have it, just imagine how much more productive you would be. Hate me if you wanna - could care less what you think...but someone needs to tell you guys to close up shop! No one needs what you are selling.

YOU are the reason we get walked all over. You are perfectly happy being treated like crap, kind of sad in the grand scheme of things..But thanks for settling and making the rest of us do the same.

to "make" you do anything. And, now you are going to blame this poster for your bad situation? Oh brother, that is rich. Are you saying that you don't have the options the rest of us do? Poor you...

Telling it the way you see it, what a concept. However, "they" are gonna get you because that means they have to admit you are right on the money.

Well, I Be Darn!!
Jan 21, 2011

Since starting my job 8 months ago, I have been without work and on an impossible account to make any kind of living wage.  I specifically was told when I was hired that I would be put on a cardiology account and I agreed, since I was coming off a cardiology account at my previous job.   Well, fast forward, I was put on another account and an account that is verbatim, heavy ESLs and American speaking doctors who cannot speak.  Believe it or not, the account specifics are ...

Short Cut For List Punctuation In A Drug List? (Fluency)
Dec 06, 2014

Is there is quick way to add commas between items in a list? Of course, using Ctl K in front a word will change the punctuation, but it will also change a capitalized drug to lower case, and you will still have to get to the beginning of the next drug which will require 2 Ctl arrows and backspace. Ctl arrow takes you to the beginning of the next word, but you will have to backspace to put in the comma. Adding punctuation to lists is so time consuming! ...
