So I'm applying for a substitute position with my local school system and they want two professional references.
I don't want to ask the current MTSO I work for, nor the physicians in my private accounts. I've worked for this MTSO for 5 years, a pretty significant length of time considering. So I'm looking at my resume over the last 10 years and there are five companies closed/bought out.
I have been in contact with a company I worked for from 1997 to 2003, and they are willing to write a reference, so there is one reference. I'm pulling at straws here. I have a call into the recruiter to ask if a current coworker can write one for me.
I don't expect anyone to have an answer. I just wanted to write this down where others might understand or be in the same situation. I'm wondering if the moral of the story here is be sure to secure a professional reference before your MTSO closes/sells (which you'd have to be a mind reader to do that before they announce it, right?)
