After over 25 years as an MT, I'm not going to lie, I am a little sad. However, MT is not what it used to be. It served me well for about 20 years or so before it started to go south. I did manage to avoid VR, but it was only a matter of time.
I recently completed school (again) and I am starting a new career. I know many people think it can't be done on the wages MTs have been reduced to, but I am living proof that it actually can! I continued working as an MT while I was in school to pay my tuition. I also gave up things like daily coffees, going out to dinner, and cooking more at home, etc. It was amazing how much money I saved and could put towards school.
Anyway, good luck to all of you. Who knows - maybe, just maybe things will change for the better for MTs. I just know I couldn't wait any longer to find out.
