Well this is the third day to have to stop working before the end of my shift and my account manager has approved it.. she has no work for us.

That is awful, but luckily, I work for a service that refuses to overhire. I work the hours I want as an IC and decent line count to boot.

I presume you went with a company who probably advertises heavily here *** -- I did my homework, left those sites and went with a smaller company. My company is straight transcription, we dont do VR and I am well compensated for my work.

No, I've never seen an ad for this company and have been with them for 5 years now. They've suddenly overhired and I really think the newbies that are paid less are being sent the work, but of course they won't admit to it.

I, too, work for a small service that has never had an ad here before. We all of a sudden in the last 2 weeks have had essentially no work (which is extremely unusual), yet there are a couple of newbies who have joined lately. I have wondered the same thing that you posted above. Whatever it is, it's not good.

What really makes me want to scream is the way they keep approving OT for the weekends on my out of work accounts, in case a single thing might go out of TAT, when I haven't had a full 40 hour week in 2 months.

Maybe your situation at Webmedx is cushy. Good for you. Don't tell me to talk to my supe and take on more accounts. I have done it. No, I'm not a slacker, I was a high producer making big bucks when there was work. And yes, I've been seeking another job with no luck. I WISH my state paid for "underemployment", they don't. I WISH they would lay me off - as it is, I'm still "working".

There are worse things than being laid off - like having no work indefinitely and being told to keep flexing until your utilities are shut off and you can't attempt to work at all.

Unable to log on because DQS needs to be updated. Then can't update on DocuManage because there's no link. They tell me they someone will call back and help me, but they have no way of knowing when. DQS is driving me crazy today. When I push the pedal, it takes a couple seconds to start playing. If I let off the pedal, it keeps going for a couple seconds and I can't get it to stop. The typing I am doing does not keep up with my finger speed either, with words not showing up until after I've typed them. I use my own computer and have never encountered this issue before. It is a major hindrance though, slowing me down. What's next? ...

Typing that last report, signing out for the last time.....it was all very surreal. I still can't believe I actually left. Sad though because I wasn't offered anything PT (not that I would had taken it), and nobody said "we'll be happy to take you back". AND....no exit interview. Hi! This is how I feel today. Sometimes my account (not MD-IT) has so much work we are chasing our tail. However, this week has been really slow so I am looking for a new full-time home and I'll stay with the old place part-time. To that end, any word on MD-IT? I just received notice that my line rate is decreasing 1 cpl. A year and a half ago it had dropped 1 cpl also... and all as an IC. This will hurt. But what to do? I will stay as it is good work, good management, I know most of the accounts.... some are buggers though.. Only 7-1/2 years until I can retire to at least part time... hope I can survive until then. No way can I put in anymore hours than I already am. I am hoping for an after-school babysitting job ...
