I have been looking and applying to MT jobs, but more and more I am seeing scribe positions. I interviewed for one, but did not hear back. Are any of you MTs now working as a scribe, and if so do you like it?

and never heard back. I personally would not do it. Very low pay and you have to accompany the doc into the examining rooms. No thanks!

Hey there, I currently work as a scribe for close to 3 years now and LOVE it. I actually get to put a face with the names. I scribe for 3 providers in an orthopedic group and love all three of them, which I think is why it works for me. I also do other duties such as ordering MRIs, setting up referrals, ordering physical therapy and stuff like that. I think the main thing is your relationship with the provider with whom you're working with.

for a full time scribe position with an ophthalmologist. There are close to zero scribe positions in the rural area I live. I'm still on the fence about it as it requires nights and weekends, but if it pays well I will seriously consider taking the job if offered. What is a good per hour wage?

re scribes. another problem, exposure to whatever contagious airborne thing the patient has and also sights and smells that may be stomach turners.

If you are easily nauseated, fine, but let's not get hysterical about the "plague" thing.

You can wear a mask, if necessary, and you CAN learn to wash your hands.

I am sure you touch door handles, banisters, elevator buttons, and other people all the time. I am also sure you put your hands all over gas pumps and grocery carts, and that you don't think twice about getting in elevators or checkout lines, letting others handle your credit cards, or using others' pens. THAT, and your family, is where you get your diseases.

This whole bit about fearing being in the room with patients is ridiculous. I have been in examining rooms with patients at times during my career and regularly interact with them now. The worst illnesses I have gotten were not from patients.

Certainly, if you are a hysteroid nitwit, you should stay in the safety of your home, but let's stop spreading ridiculous fears of contagion.

I have voice files sent to me that I cannot play in Windows Media or Express Scribe. They will load in ES but show 00:00 duration. I thought possibly it was an encryption error as they possibly they are coming that way to be because they are secure but I sent to a friend and she can open them and play them. I know from previous posts on here that that job isn't the big thing MQ was making it out to be (horrible editing pay, etc). BUT...do you guys at least have work to do, whether it is typing or editing? I am just an MT and I run out of work daily. I need some advice about a position that I am being offered. It is an IC position. They want Tu-Sat or Sun-Thurs and 1500 lines per day. This is supposedly 70% VR and the rest is straight typing. I know that techniqually they aren't supposed to require weekend work and line requirements for IC, but how is the best way to negotiate this and still get the job?
