This post is in regard to posts I have seen lately on this board regarding dictators. They actually do care or must feel they need to address situations that I bring to their attention.

A call regarding flags from the physician himself. He is realizing how much time I am spending locating certain info not dictated. He tells me officially that the facility is to handle that now so as not to take up my time.

A call from a dictator today, stating as he made so many errors and redictations on the first dictation, please do not transcribe and I will redictate again error-free. This was immediately after dictating the report to be canceled. He apologied and did not want me to struggle through something.

A surgeon who finally got it that cell phones equal blanks and now dictated on a landline in plenty of time prior to surgery for his history and physical.

Those are just a few examples within the last day. Physicians do care. However, it is up to the MTSO to address issues, which they should immediately.

I am blessed to have fabulous clients...... ones who dictate extremely clear, separate job numbers, and use a landline... Thank you God....and doctors...

Exactly. That's how it was always done. I worked in-house for many years and doctors were professional and polite if we brought something to their attention. Yes, there might be one or two who didn't care but that was the minority. These corporate MTSOs are so afraid to say anything. They don't know how to foster a personal relationship with the client + let the underpaid MT deal with it = bad business practices.

that because bad dictation affects TAT and quality as well as making their staff miserable they would address it. Nothing worse than cell/VOIP dictation or horrible dictators to ruin your profit margins and sanity....

I think it's because they're idiots. These arrogant fat cats are in the business of providing a service they have no idea how to perform, and their culture is so disrespectful they don't have the sense to consult those of us who actually understand the demands of the job.

Does anyone remember the conference calls we had when transitioning to Transcend from MDI-MD regarding our line rates? I can remember quite a few people being upset that after being told our rates would not change, many had their line rates cut. This is to all the people that get ticked off when MQ calls them to work. I WOULD KILL FOR A CALL TO WORK AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT. Just thinking out loud here. I know many practices probably do their own outsourcing to MTs at home. Why not more? It must be cheaper for them with higher quality work, personalized service, etc. Some hospitals even hire MTs to work from home rather than use an MTSO. Has anyone else been getting strange recorded phone calls from M*Modal telling you to test for them? I keep ignoring them and yet they keep calling. I haven't tested for them in years and wouldn't work for them if they were the last MTSO left on earth. And the woman's voice who does the recording sounds like she is a robot or something from outer space, LOL! ...
