Overseas MT Opportunities? - Looking

<sigh> With the USA going down the toilet fast (see Military Detention Act), I fleetingly thought about pursuing something overseas.
I used to work with a lady who took a position in Saudi, Arabia. They paid to move her over there (into a dorm-type building with other MTs), where she lived for a year or two. She was subjected to incredibly sexist treatment by the Arab men BUT loved it there and wound up marrying an American she met while there. Of course, those were the "good old days" of MT, and they aren't coming back.
A few years ago I knew of an American expat MT living in Japan, but I don't know what circumstances got her there because I didn't "know" her well at all.
I wish I had jumped ship years ago. My #1 destination would be Switzerland, which -- though tax rates are high -- is breathtakingly beautiful, has an incredible education system, superb medical care, and lots of gun owners.

I imagine the 3rd-world competition and technology advances are decimating MT jobs everywhere -- except the 3rd world.

She could not get over the fact that I was working from home, transcribing dictated reports. The whole system was very different than what she was used to doing in Israel, where she had been trained. Apparently, at that time, in her country, they were using scribes to document patient care. I remember thinking how "backward" and inefficient that was, especially in view of the fact that Israel is technologically very progressive and cutting edge in so many areas, especially in medical technology (the pill camera was invented in Israel). Now I wish that I had asked a lot more questions about medical scribing, since MT seems to be going the way of the horse and buggy.
Move to India. Plenty of work there. - nm

How can any company be compliant with HITECH/HIPPA when they send work overseas. Isn't that a HIPPA violation and should the patient be notified that their personal information, diagnoses, history, SS#, in some cases home address, DOB, etc, is sometimes mentioned in reports and overseas MTs have access to it?
