Now I'm not fast enough - Worn out

I don't know what these companies expect. I think they all think we are robots that can be programmed. My quality is excellent but I'm not fast enough doing VR. I have NEVER been able to do VR as fast as I can type, but they seem to think that with VR you should be able to do TWICE as much as straight typing-- not! I wish they WOULD just get robots to do the work-- then they wouldn't have to pay ANYTHING-- just the initial cost of the robots. With what they pay and all the upgrades I had to pay for just to work for them, I will be in the hole even with my first paycheck. Whatever happened to them allowing us to get used to a new platform, new docs, etc.? I guess you are just supposed to hit the ground at top speed, top quality, etc. your first day there. I guess if I can't speed up, I will again be out of a job.

Is that IF editors did all they tell them to do, research demographics, research doctor's names to get their title and first name to add to the report, email them to notify when something has to go to QA because you do not have ANY demographic info, proof all you have edited, check previous reports to see what if the doc really meant "left" or "100 mg of Vicodin", or if this patient is a "he" or a "she", reformat all the formatting errors, correct all the grammar mistakes, then it takes almost as long, sometimes longer to edit than to transcribe. They are asking the impossible. The longer an MT takes (if it isn't due to lack of experience) the more she is sticking to giving them all they want. This is what the {redacted} just don't get.

They have already tried to replace us with robots (the ASR systems) but to their dismay they discovered that a brain is needed for this job, not just hands. Who pays the price for the ASR developers and sales teams? We do.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Same happened to me when my MTSO lost the account a few days ago. Best to just get out of this business all together unless you can afford to wait for the ASR malpractice suits to teach them again that we can't be replaced (safely) with ASR.

Half of my clinic work (mostly VR) is in the format of a letter. I've only been there a half year, and most doctors dictate "send the letter to BLAH-BLAH-BLAH". I have to spend a lot of time looking up the spelling, address, etc. The way they talk, it's all a blur. They are talking so fast it's like they're on cocaine or something like that. :p

convince the client purchasing the VR software that an editor can put out twice as much as an MT straight typing. And the bean counters buy into it, not knowing a thing about what MT entails. :(( It's really pathetic that the people in charge have not a clue what this profession does.

I knew they charged a 7.50 fee for not meeting your line requirement, but then there was going to be another fee after you had been there for 90 days. I have been using Shorthand on Windows 8 typing directly into Word 2010 and 2013 for over a year with no problems. I recently went over to a new account using my Shorthand and Word 2010.
