Fast Chart? - looking

Any info on this company?  Undecided

Lots of information, and none of it good! - run as far and as fast as you can

Very low pay, IC work to boot, they charge YOU to use their system, and they penalize you somehow if you don't meet some quota, and they were fuzzy about whether the penalty would be waived if it was THEIR fault you didn't meet the quota, i.e. lack of work.

Agree with above poster, run as fast and as far nm - MQMT

They CHARGE you to use their platform? That isn't mentioned in any of the literature I've seen.

I applied with them, but when I found out about paying to use platform I bypassed them. I hope they are not the ones who only pay once a month as well. We've all applied to so many, who remembers anymore.

The platform charge is something like $7.50 per pay period if you commit to less than 13,000 lines per pay period. However, like all the others, they have overhired and work is thin for many who are still working there.

Fast Chart has very nice management, great IT support, but that doesn't pay the bills. They have GESTAPO QA, and they keep you on 10 reports a day (come on who does that anymore???) because they do not have the staff to support QA for new hires. QA can be quite nasty, and they do not communicate between themselves, and one will tell you one thing and then another one will tell you something different. One actually implied I was an idiot.

You have to be able to do 4000 lines per day to make any money (BTW THAT'S 10 HOURS) and there's not enough work for that, you're lucky if you get 700 lines and at 3 cpl, you can do the math, I've sought greener pastures with a smaller company typing operative reports for 7 cpl on a gross line, the owner is terrific, helpful, and has work, and I made $100 in a day and a half, and she gave me constructive feedback, and support, she's the kind of QA person that we all dream of.

Fast Chart will only charge you if you don't meet their required 13,000 lines per pay period, which is either editing or transcription. If you can live on 10 reports a day and being dinged for every comma, hyphen, semi-colon, noun verb,go for it. Even if you provide a perfect report they look for something to ding you for so you can stay on QA the 10 reports a day. For VR for 3 cpl the expectations are beyond unreasonable. Their QA people need to "walk a mile" in the VR editors shoes, and realize that we are not getting paid the cushy hourly salary to sit there and provide "pretty reports", we are VR editors which translates to we fix what the voice missed and go on.

So everyone can do the math the MTSOs are CLEANING up on voice, they're paying us 3 to 3.50 cpl and they are making 8 to 10 cpl, which means their profit margin doubled from transcription, yet they tell you they want 98% quality but want 100% on crappy voice files that takes sometimes 3x as long to edit as it does to transcribe. These companies live in fear of saying anything at all to the client when they are poor dicators and the voice cannot pick up the dictation so you spend 20 minutes on a 5 minute file fixing formatting, hopping back in for between whether it's a client request or it's an Escription/Editscript request, when I could have typed the dang thing and sent it on it's way and done 3 more reports in the mean time.

MTSO'S need to realize that VR was designed NOT TO have to pay an hourly QA person! They might as well send their work offshore, oh I forgot the offshores don't have to promise 98% quality and are held to a different standard! Ooops now we have the new HIPPA laws and a lot of work is coming back from offshore, and these MTSOs are literally screwed because they priced the work based on the offshore rate, and now are having a hard time filling the positions with the US MTS because we need to make a living! So what do they do? Hire entry level (to me that is someone with less than 5 years experience overall with clinics, and acute care), and by doing that it looks like there are no quality MTs in this country because HELLO YOU DON'T WANT TO PAY THE EXPERIENCES PEOPLE! So it has become an endless circle, hire the newbies, so you STILL have to have the hourly QA person HELLO AGAIN that defeats the purpose of VR. VR was designed to ELIMINATE THE HOURLY QA PEOPLE! I know I was hourly at one company and when VR came in, guess what happened to my hourly wage? I went on production!

But like everything else in this industry it will turn around the clients will complain and the MTSO SUITS will have to not take their summer vacations to Europe this year or put plasma screen tvs in their bathrooms, and bite the bullet and start coughing up more money, otherwise, they are going to continue to lose accounts because if everyone has noticed, there's a lot of smaller companies popping up out there, thanks to VR, and the American way, competition.

MTSO'S LISTEN UP! START EDUCATING YOUR CLIENTS ON THE VOICE! STOP PROMISING THEM THAT IT IS THE SAME AS REGULAR TRANSCRIPTION, IT IS NOT! BE HONEST WITH THEM TELL THEM THEY GET WHAT THEY PAY FOR! STOP THE GREED! IF THEY WANT 100% QUALITY HIRE A 100% US MT TO DO THE WORK AT 9 CPL WITH SPACES!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUT THE VOICE IN THE CLOSET!!!!!!!!!! AND YOUR WORK WILL GET DONE AND YOU'LL MAKE MORE MONEY BECAUSE YOU'LL HAVE LESS HOURLY QA PEOPLE!

Thank you.

I agree with much that you wrote regarding Fast Chart. The thing that stood out there and concerned me, regarding QA, was that the owner of the company seems to lean heavily on whatever QA says. I'm not sure if she is aware of when QA is wrong, or if she simply chooses to stick her head in the sand and refuses to believe that any MT could actually be as intelligent as any member of her most highly-esteemed QA staff. Some of the QA persons there are quite nasty and short, can be rather robotic, not thinking out of the box, not thinking past their own interpretation of client preferences, which are usually vague and/or not well documented in writing on Fast Chart's website. Sometimes, there is more than one way to interpret something, but each QA can be quite rigid, each one with a different opinion. I was blessed, though, to encounter two QA there who were quite pleasant.

I certainly agree with you regarding the hourly pay. I am not sure whether the QA people there are ICs or employees. However, it seems that all of the MTs are ICs.

It is also my opinion that Fast Chart is one of those companies that will eventually have trouble with the IRS regarding the IC/employee issue, as they seem to want employees, but with regards to taxes and pay, they want to treat them as ICs. However, they want to control the work flow and the order in which jobs are completed, yet not promising any work during the set schedule that the IC is required to submit in advance.

Fast Chart And Fees
Feb 18, 2011

I applied to Fast Chart, tested and then was offered a position.  So, I read their contract and got to the fees section.  I knew they charged a 7.50 fee for not meeting your line requirement, but then there was going to be another fee after you had been there for 90 days.  This fee is calculated using some kind of formula 40.00 - (A/B)*40....A is number of lines you actually transcribed and B is the Line requirement and then there is another formula to calculate edited lines.  ...

One Company To Stay Away From Is Fast Chart

One company to stay away from is Fast Chart, but they OVERHIRE BIG TIME, and you cannot make a living, always running out of work, they ask for shifts, but it's a free for all, and they even posted in their newsletter and congats to a VR editor or edited 53,000 lines in a pay period!  Now, tell me how is that possible and maintain 98%, NOT. unless you are glued to the chair with a catheter, and also what about the other eidtors that needed the work!  Letting people work a free for all in ...

Fast Chart Transcription Company
May 29, 2015

I have worked for this company for 6 months, and I am about to quit.  I was reading some posts about Fast Chart Transcription were people said they were getting 7 cents a line with them.  I don't know when that was, but she started me at 3 cents a line.  Not only that, no matter how carefully I reviewed over and over the reports I did, she nitpicked everything and said my QA score was too low, 92%.  I looked at her corrections and it was things like when the doctor dicta ...

Survey - Do You Have Access To Chart?
Apr 28, 2014

I'm wondering how many MTs out there have access to patient charts.  As of now, I do and it's very helpful in looking up vitals, lab values, and doctors' names that the dictator invariably mumbles.  The company I work for will soon remove that access to MTs, and I'm wondering if this is a new HIPAA requirement or if we are moving to a platform that simply does not support it.  They are saying that it is because of HIPAA, but I think it's ridiculous to take ...
