Started working for my current office 7 years ago. Worked 1 year in the office then needed to work from home so went on contract. Things were great, plenty of overtime, work as much or as little as I want and still have plenty of time to spend with my family. After 4 years they could no longer offer me a contract per se, but still had plenty of work so I stayed with them. Things changed, started having trouble getting my checks on time, sometimes would be because my boss forgot to turn it in, then her supervisor would forget to forward it to the appropriate department but always honest mistakes on their part and while I was not happy, I understood. January 2011 I was really tired of being a MT so found a part time job at school - only about 10 hours a week, but something fun to get out of the house and didn't interfere with my regular job, never mind that it seemed to drop to almost nothing after that. My boss said she really didn't have much for me to do - paychecks were cut to about 25% of what they had been. By that time they had merged with several other physician groups and one of them needed some help so I worked for both as needed, but still being paid through the origina officel, no problem. Since December I have been working pretty much full time covering for one of the employees at the second office who was on medical leave, then the beginning of February the other employee left for a month vacation so I took a short leave from my school to cover for both of them. Typing my fingers off, told my family don't bother me, I'm working, total grouch but I knew the money would be nice when the paycheck came. Check was due last Friday. Called on Monday, was told they were "holding the check" until the 29th because "transcription was over budget." Hello?!?!?! Not MY problem, I did the work, they pay the bill. So checked my mail today, no check again. Called the office and told them I am done working for free, this has happened too many times so if anyone wants to have my job and work for nothing, have at it!
Sorry for the long vent, but my mortgage is due today, really wanted to pay it on time and keep up my record but guess a day late is not going to goof up my credit that bad. Really want to write a letter to the editor of the local newspaper and blast them for not paying their bills, that is the only thing I can think of to do. Anyone have any good ideas? Just really fed up and tired of working my butt off for nothing!
