Got some gratitude to share - HappyMT

Posted: Apr 06, 2011

I am grateful to have a job today.  I am grateful that work is available on that job.  I am grateful that it pays well.  I am just grateful.  It may not always be like that, but the majority of the time I have work, and can make money to pay my bills.  Not alot of people can say that.  Not to mention when I am sick like I am now, I can work in the comfort of my own home.  That in itself is a blessing!  I wish this for all of us.  Anybody else with gratitude????  If you don't have any, please don't post.  Just want to hear from people like me who are happy and feel blessed today.  Not bragging, just happy!  Thanks for letting me share!

Perspective - ME

In the wake of natural tragedies like Japan, Haiti and man-made catastrophies like Libya/Iraq, EVERYday those with jobs in America live richly - comparatively speaking.

It's important to remember this. And yes, I count pennies in the days before pay day but I try to remember there are no guarantees in this life, and to be happy for what is right and what is good.

I am on my third day of having no work at all from any of my 3 jobs. On a normal week that would be a complaint, but my kids are on spring break and I have been able to go bowling with them, having a movie night tonight, had coffee with friends this morning and went to a women's group meeting at church yesterday that I always miss because I am working. I am glad to be able to work and my health is still good. Realized this morning that even though I am 45, I probably still have another 30+ years to work, so I still have time to go back to school and learn a new trade if I choose to if this one dries up completely. Life is good! Thanks for starting this thread.

I too am grateful every single day for what I have been blessed with. It may not be much at times, but it is better than what some others have recieved. Gratefulness begets more blessings and more opportunities. Negativity begets more negativity. Be thankful every day for what you have, as tomorrow it could be gone in a flash. Cherish what is in your heart.

Thank you for your post! Like you, I am grateful. I am grateful that, after a terrible experience with MedQuist, I was able to find a mid-sized company that treats people decently. Yes, we do run out of work sometimes, but heck, so do the big companies! I have a supervisor who is intelligent and kind. She respects me and I respect her in return. I do not have to fight with the commute every day like when I worked outside my home. I really am blessed, and am happy to say so!

I was going to post something similar today but figured it'd just get stomped on, so THANK YOU!

My manager called me this morning to talk about a report and we ended up on the phone for a while. I felt appreciated. I felt cared about.

I, too, am grateful that I have a job that allows me to work within my health limitations, that pays well, that most often has more work than I can do in a day. After a lifetime, I still love my job :)

Amen to that. I like my company, I like my accounts, and there is always work. I like the fact that I can work in my slippers and jammies if I feel like it. I like that I don't have to leave the house in blizzards to go to work.

Ditto jammies, slippers, blizzards. - Billie

Was just taking a shower after a nap and was so grateful for having running water. Thought of all the people, even in the US, who don't have that. I am grateful even for slow times when I can go plant pansies and veggies or just hang out with the cat. And when there is work, it pays well. Thanks for starting this thread.

Very grateful! - Blessed MT

I have to agree to always be grateful! I love my company and my abundant account. I love working at home and being here when my kids get home from school. It really is a blessing and so glad I became an MT way back in 1996!

I agree being grateful allows for so many more blessings to come into your life. :)

I love the flexibility this job offers me, especially with children at home...I never miss a single activity with them. Thanks for posting this. There are just way too many negative people on this board for my liking.

Also a grateful MT - sorefingers

I am so grateful for today! I just sent out my resume and cover letter and got a reply back today that I got the job! No testing needed. My husband lost his job due to the economy and this is such a blessing for us. This post is what we need every day to pick us up so that we are able to appreciate all that we do have. Maybe someone should post something like this weekly. It is so easy to find fault with all the little things in our lives that bug us but we tend not mention all the things we are grateful for. Thank you for your post today! Have a great evening everyone!

So wonderful to hear good things for a change! Like I said earlier I am feeling bad and since our system was down I was able to go to the Urgent Care tonight. Any other night I would have been fretting about not being able to work, but things worked out for the best. I'm still feeling bad, and I have to work now, but I'm still grateful! I can get comfortable in my PJs and when I get to wiped out, I can go from the chair to the bed! Everyone have a blessed evening!

If You're Willing To Share...

I'm interested in figuring out the average VR lines per day an MT can average with M*M as well as how many straight typing lines you get per day.  I know this is dependent on a lot of different factors like account and the skill of the MT but, if you are willing to share, I would love for people to post how many lines per day you average on VR and straight typing. Recently someone here mentioned that the top producers in their region were producing 1200 VR lines per day.  I would ...

Here is an example of why we need to keep a sense of humor about what we do.  I am sure it shows other things but after the last day of transcribing this long psych eval -  the only thing I need more than humor is bourbon. (BTW, I gave up and am doing the last section of this report this morning.  My poor brain couldn't handle any more last night.) “… which suggests some risk for future problems in the future if treatment in this area of treatment efforts are un ...

Anyone Have A Tip They Can Share For Deleting
Nov 02, 2014

When doing VR, which of course is 98% of the time, I keep my hands at the bottom of the keyboard, left hand near Cntl, right hand hovering over the arrow keys.  Since there is a lot of deleting to do, you have to reach up to the top right corner of the laptop to press delete.  Of course I always have to look to make sure I don't accidentally hit insert.  It's so annoying.  Is there an easier way that I'm not thinking of?  Any suggestions would be SOOOO app ...

Share The Same Feelings?
Feb 17, 2015

I get several audits within the "acceptable" range and a "well done." Now, I get a mid-month audit where I fail the standard. ARGH!!! I hate this constant up and down.  Envy those who are able to achieve 100% and get whopping line counts.  Not happening  for me, however. ...

New Job Training Nightmares - Share Yours
Aug 12, 2010

This is the 2nd position I have found myself in in under 3 years.  Again, I am facing being trained by a person who is giving me information so quickly, it is impossible to write it down, left alone remember it.  logmein123 - I watch this MT go through the steps and she is moving through the steps at a furious speed, mumbling about going into the wrong window, back out, into something else, "write this down."  Sets me up and leaves out vital step which I don't realize for a ...

Wanted To Share My Triumph!
Aug 22, 2011

I see so much negative posted on this board, that I wanted to share my success, if for no other reason than to show others that it is possible to do well.   I had struggled for a while lately with production because of some personal circumstances, and having a hard time just getting myself in gear and being able to do what needed to be done. I finally decided that I am the only one who can change my financial situation, and took the bull by the horns.  I downloaded a stopwatch/timer ...

Share A Positive About MT Career
Dec 30, 2011

Hi fellow MTs.  As we all know, this board can sometimes be full of negative things, and many MTs who once had a good career in this field are experiencing changes that have negatively affected them and their pay and their lives.  My heart does go out to these people; however, I thought it would be fun to talk about some positives we have experienced in this field, even if we would no longer recommend the field to a new person.  Personally, I have been an MT for 5-1/2 years, and ...

and now some are calling it a hoax. I have spent most of the day talking to UE and my states Food Share Program. Working from home for so long, I wanted to share my news with my fellow MTs. I thought they would understand how I felt. I appreciated some of the MTs wishing me luck, but I am surprised and sad to see that so many have become so "cold" that they can't even open their minds and believe someone. I still wish all MTs the best of luck. I will be fine. Even, at my age, they can ...

Mar 29, 2014

There are times I do enjoy the work. However, I have a few failed audits, performance management for lines, and NJA, so lately not too thrilled. I just wish it would get better. Sometimes I too would like to quit, but just keep plugging along. For me, at least it is some income adding to the pot, and that is a blessing. I often wonder would I save more money not working-dinner out due to no time to cook, lunch out due to no time for grocery store-you know the drill.  Anyhow, trying to have ...
