This is the 2nd position I have found myself in in under 3 years. Again, I am facing being trained by a person who is giving me information so quickly, it is impossible to write it down, left alone remember it. logmein123 - I watch this MT go through the steps and she is moving through the steps at a furious speed, mumbling about going into the wrong window, back out, into something else, "write this down."
Sets me up and leaves out vital step which I don't realize for a week. I spend most of my time looking for patients, doctors and macros. My last job's training was no better. She was the lead - left her desk for appointments while training me, actually let me struggle with the absolute worst dictator during my first 2 weeks (low-talking mumbler), would let 3 jobs fall into my queue and then let me sit there all day without giving me feed back but I could not do anymore until she did. I made 186.00 for my first 2 weeks there - Yes, I was FT employee but "unpaid training."
A year later, I realized she was sadistic to do this. I have done this for years and just need to be trained in a comprehensive fashion. I am not an idiotic but the trainers appear to be deciding just how much or how little training they are going to give depending on how fond they are of you.
Listen, I passed the test and was hired. I do not need the trainer deciding whether I make it in this job. And, as they always know, I am a one-income house. A meager paycheck a few payperiods in a row ruined me financially. I have never recovered. By the way, I ended up being the top performer in the latter position I described. The facility appreciated my hard work and told me so.
MTSO - Please reign in your trainers - there are enough that appear to be on a power trip - that I have run into 2 already in under 5 years. We are not here to win a personality contest, we are here to provide a sound legal document and be paid accordingly. Omitting information from a training session or giving the wrong information, or making us struggle with unusually difficult dictation while we are learning the format - within the first 2 weeks - is unusually cruel. And set up a training time when the trainer is available the entire shift. Time is money in this business.
Train the trainers to be objective.
If they think every MT who crosses their path is going to become fast friends with them, they are delusional. We are who we are and this is a job, not a social event.
