Escription Users: is it possible to do 400 lines an hour - Misty

Posted: Apr 24, 2013

Have not done VR since I worked for the M. Is the above platform easy to use because you would have to be flying through reports at today's going pay rates.

Easy platform but I cannot do 400 lph consistently - anon

I can do 400 lph if the stars all align but typically I average about 220-250.

If you are supremely disciplined you could probably do 300ish would be my guess on a typical heavy ESL account.

Been in the biz for 14 years.

escription - what I do

[ In Reply To ..]
I can usually do about 300 to 350 pretty consistently. But I do have the speed of the dictation up as far as I can and still hear words. Still end up having to correct just every line though and this is one of the easiest platforms. It is just so frustrating to see that it cannot "learn" and just gets worse all the time. Time for a new career, but at 60 years of age, that is kinda hard these day. Been doing this 40 years.

I usually am able to do about 375 an hour - but the first hour or so

[ In Reply To ..]
averaging way up there sometimes, have seen 500-600 range but it averages out to about the 375 for the entire day. I also have to have at full speed in order to get that. I noticed someone said getting more lines on heavy ESL account. Sure don't know what they mean by that.

See, here's the thing - the system does learn - but if it is not managed well then it is garbage

[ In Reply To ..]
by managed well, I mean that there has to be consistency in the editing. If the doctor says something like 75 grams per deciliter and you change it to g/dL (per the account specs) but other people do not, then no, the voice engine does not learn.

It has to have consistency, and it will learn, but if there is no consistency in the editing, then it's no good.

There are ways - sm

Sometimes you need to get creative with your time. You know how you have periods of time when you are on a roll? Keep going as long as that lasts. Then log out. Make sure you are only logged in while you are actively typing/editing. Any time you are not, log out. If you run to the bathroom/kitchen/answer the door/check your email, etc., you need to be off the ES clock. Of course, that being said, you will probably have a longer total day in order to get in your "time" (full 8 hours or whatever your shift requires). Just try it for half your shift and see what it does to your lph number.

Yes, but with a caveat - The system itself has to be well managed

I just looked at my stats for my work since midnight and my lines/houro median is 432.7 and lines/hour average is 359.3. I've been sort of goofing off a bit tonight, too.

Here's the thing, though. I work for a healthcare system and not an MTSO. It's a large system, but it's managed really well. If there is a doctor who is a problem dictator, my transcription manager can talk to that person to help them with their dictations. It's what I call a closed system, in that it's a relatively controlled number of dictators, even if it's a large group, and the 40 in-house MT's are all pretty good about doing things consistently.

I can always tell when I'm getting work types that have been done by Nuance who does our overflow. Suddenly numbers will be spelled out instead of numbers, and other little things will require corrections that didn't before, because they are not following our account specs (which are ridiculously easy and not extensive).

Anyway, yes, 400 lph is doable, but with qualifications. I'm not sure it could be done with Nuance if you're working back and forth between many accounts or have one of those huge accounts with 25 hospitals feeding into it.

It depends on the account. Sometimes I can transcribe faster than edit. I used to do straight transcription at 380 lines an hour, and now VR editing with ES some days I can only edit 350 lph. It all depends on the account, dictator, speech machine, and facility specs.

I prefer straight transcription vs VR, but that is just me.

Any Other Escription/EditScript Users Notice This???
Mar 17, 2014

Most of you know who I work for (Acusis).  I've never really paid much attention to lines on my timesheet cause I had always reached my daily goal in ES.  I do work 10 pm to 2 am so I realize my count may overlap into the next day.  However, I 'really' noticed for this past pay period, that the timesheet counts(which are uploaded by my supervisor which she gets from the client) were off from what ES had(I logged in and checked each day for the past pay period) to th ...

With decades of experience as an MT, I'm just now getting into VR. I'd like to know, if you would please care to share, just how many lines per hour you are able to get with VR. I know this varies from person to person and platform to platform, but please, help me out with this! I'm terrified I'm going to go broke doing this! Thanks in advance. ...

I don't have much to compare to, as this is the only company I've worked for as an editor. I wanted to get an idea of the different platforms we each use and our lines per hour. QA Lines Per Hour/day
Nov 17, 2011

I have been promoted to QA and was wondering what the average line count you that do QA get in an hour or a day. I have been doing this for a few months and I am making about the same amount of money per month as I was with MT. Am I being too slow? I am afraid to speed it up for fear of missing something. My workload is about 50% fill in blanks and scan and 50% listen and read along full audit stuff. Right now I am averaging 400 to 450 lines an hour or 3200 to 3600 a day. I was hoping to make a ...

My accounts were recently switched from typing to mostly ASR...I'm really struggling here!  It seems like I take longer to edit jobs than to type them out. (Of course, it would help if the ASR program was more accurate). Why is this so hard for me?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.     ...

400 Lines An Hour?
Jul 31, 2014

I'm just thinking back to that whoever person that posted on here about a week or two ago that says he or she easily makes $16 to $18 an hour at Nuance and has plenty of work and always gets paid on time.  A lot of replies said the poster is probably a fake and is someone from Nuance management or human resources who is desperate for people to hop on board.  I posted that it would be impossible to make $16 as an MT at Nuance, for you'd have to be nearly bionic in terms of yo ...

To Get Decent Lines An Hour
Aug 04, 2010

Hi, I seem to struggle with line counts (a few years into MTing).  Some accounts I am fine with and some very slow.  Because of the nature of the work (and working from home), I have no way to gauge if the faster accounts are just abnormally easy or the slower accounts are abnormally hard.  - Do you all (who have decent line counts) feel like you are moving like a mad person or just moving along at a decent pace? Any ideas on how to tell what my issues are or what the scoop is?&n ...

HOW MANY ASR LINES CAN YOU EDIT PER HOUR?
Jan 28, 2012

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but how many lines on average would you say you can edit with ASR per hour?  I think the most I have ever been able to do was around 250 myself.  I just wondered how I measured up with other MTs with the ASR jobs.  I remember a couple of years ago not long after MQ started up with ASR getting a company email describing an MT (no name was given) who could edit over 600 lines per hour and over 400 with straight transcription.   ...
