Lines per hour - ?

How many lines per hour do you average doing straight typing? I used to get paid by the hour. The job I'm interviewing for is straight typing. I know many factors come into play, but what is average?

about 200 ST. I have done 500 VR - minimum my company is 150

I rarely get straight typing jobs but when I do it depends on all the variables, work type, quality of dictation, etc.; and I take maximum advantage of my text expander. For SR, I do between 250 and 325, also depending on the variables. I have been doing this for 35+ years.

Please share your secret for being able to do that many lines and pass audits. I barely do 200 lines SR.

I have had the same 2 accounts for about 2 years, so know most of the dictators names, style of dictating, etc., also am familiar with most of the docs who are CC'd, also all of the worktypes and terminology and formats that they entail. That is the biggest part of being able to get good line counts with SR; being on the same accounts consistently. I also pretty much have the right arrow pressed at all times and cruise along at a comfortable speed. I try to keep the speed so I can pick up every little word and avoid getting dinged. And last but not least, I stay focused on the work and go from job to job for 1-1/2 to 2 hours, then take a short break. Later, I'll take a longer supper break, and after that one more short break. I stay relaxed. I don't push. I am also on Escription that is amazingly well trained and requires a minimum of editing. I just finished my shift. One account I averaged 257 lph and the other one 325 lph. Really, I think the secret is NOT trying to go too fast which causes stress and that causes you to make mistakes and to not really hear as well as you could. In the end, you end up with fewer lines and more mistakes. My new motto is "slow and steady wins the race."

When I worked on a very accurate VR system and the same doctors for 15+ years, I averaged 450 lph on VR, sometimes even higher. Later I ended up at M*Modal with terrible VR accuracy, nitpicky QA who insisted on over-editing, and 28 primary accounts all over the country. I barely averaged 200 lph.

I used to do 300 lph standard and now I do 650 lph VR. Guess I have good accounts but usually can do this on new accounts as well. I've have quite a bit of experience, not a newbie. Been at it for about 5 years now, was slower at the beginning fresh out of schoo.

I also always hit 2300 or more Lpd when straight and with base pay and incentive pay was over $55,000 then. VR is a breeze now and east to get high lines per hour.

Hi! Just wanted to know... I have been told by others who are QA/editors that you dont always get paid by the line or by hour... some places pay them differently. I dont understand how else you can get paid, that doesnt make any sense to me. Anyone know anything about this? I have been promoted to QA and was wondering what the average line count you that do QA get in an hour or a day. I have been doing this for a few months and I am making about the same amount of money per month as I was with MT. Am I being too slow? I am afraid to speed it up for fear of missing something. Hi, I seem to struggle with line counts (a few years into MTing). Some accounts I am fine with and some very slow. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but how many lines on average would you say you can edit with ASR per hour? I think the most I have ever been able to do was around 250 myself. Does anyone know how Nuance figures lines per hour. We just moved to production pay and I'll be damned if I can figure out how they determine LPH. How many lines per hour are most people averaging right now on this platform? I am getting a mixture of straight type /VR that varies daily.
