To those that make great lines on Escription - Fried

Posted: Jan 06, 2010

What are your computer specs?

DH brought up a good question tonight. I have recently moved from my old faithful with 80 MB hard drive with 512 memory to 380 GB hard drive with 3 MB memory. i have had nothing but problems with Escription and not making my lines. I can't just use the shortcut keys and I can't use my expander. DH stated maybe I don't have what I need in the computer to make things work correctly (this coming from someone who never touched one in his life!).  His motto is you have to have the right machine to do the job.

The only thing I can think of is that my computer came with Word 2007 and tech support changed it to 2003 without removing 2007.  Should that have been done?

Also, I found out that I have an Athlon processor when I specifically requested Pentium. Is this the problem? Now I'm wondering if I bought the wrong computer and can I change the processor to Pentium if that's the case or do I need to buy another computer?  I didn't think it would make a difference, but maybe it does?

I really need to make a decision fast to buy another computer (which I really can't afford) or can I upgrade my Athlon to a Pentium?

I am also posting this on the tech support board. I need help fast.

Thank you.

I had 2007 on my computer and had to remove it and use 2003. The two do not work well on the same machine. Delete one of them. Typically 2003 works much better with shortcuts, etc. Hope this helps.

Ive been lead to believe that the eScription programs are written... - sm

to run on the old single/core chips and are not compatible with a newer duo/core or quad/core chip. Not sure if that is helpful or not...

Great Line Counts Require Great Dictators.
Feb 11, 2015

I'm always over 200 until I get Mr. Mumblemouth who knows he is not forming actual words when he hums through the PE, as my counts plummet to as loiw as 75 LPH.   Then I get a long report from an excellent fast-talking dictator and my LPH jumps to 340.   Question:  Why is it that the MTSO does not comprehend the fact that our production depends on the capability of the provider to dictate correctly?   The horrid dictators are never told they are doing anything wrong as ...

Is It True That FOCUS, Only Counts Half Of Your Lines When Calculating VR Lines?
Jan 30, 2012

Told Nuance Was Overcharging For Lines, Now Lines Drastically Reduced
May 02, 2012

My main account was a good one, and the lines were very good, mostly ER work. I have been on this account for over a year and a half now. We recently received an e-mail stating that Nuance had discovered that the line count was charging incorrectly, as instituted by them, and they had been crediting us with MORE lines than we were actually doing and overcharging the client. Now get this, they informed us that they would not make US pay it back, for their mistake, but that our new lines would re ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average Per Day
Jul 13, 2011

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. Well, my timesheet says 8 hours, but my clock says that number MAY(!) be a little higher.  Again, these are numbers I pull when things are going well and I'm not waiting for work to download. Oh Just Great! NOT No OT Pay For Me.
Mar 03, 2011

I was just informed that, even though I worked OT in my time zone (PST) and before my shift (second shift), their day is in CST, so anything after their midnight (CST) goes to the next day - that days and hours count in CST. Geez, maybe I should be working my shift in CST hours. That could be nice. I would get to start 2 hours earlier and stop at a more decent hour. This stinks like week-old fish, and I'm thinking the Calif EED might look at it a different way! ...
