I would be very happy today if someone would smack the doctor I am typing in the back of the head and say SLOW DOWN DUMMY!! I usually don't mind filling in for someone who is on vacation, but damn I am glad this is NOT one of the providers I normally type. Do they not understand that they sound mumbled when dictating so fast, not to mention the barely spoken words during the race to get to the next sentence!! ARRGHH whew k that helped a little!! I guess sometimes medical transcriptionist translates into MIRACLE WORKER!

I've been thinking the same thing. I'm always yelling at the computer.. "This is not a friggin race!" When they talk that fast they end up tripping over their words and smushing them all together. I think doctors should have to transcribe each other's dictation once in a while to be reminded of what we go through.

imagine them running around in super fast motion like that old Benny Hill TV show. What makes it worse is a lot of times they have to go back and correct mistakes that they've made because they were talking so fast that it really ends up not saving them any time at all if that's ultimately what they are trying to do.

I have a couple of them, and they say virtually the same thing every time. So now they're my favorite dictations because once I figured out what they were saying I made a normal and now I can pop it in, change a few specifics, and turn a four-minute dictation into a 3-1/2 minute job.

last night asking advice and technical questions regarding the quality of dictation recording devices because he wanted a miracle microphone (no such animal as we well know) so he could dictate from his car with the window down, on his boat on a lake while moving, and basically just about cover any situation. Is that how little importance he is putting on his patient documentation that he doesn't even want to slow down long enough to do his work before going out to play? Is this what it's coming to?

I wanted to reply back to his post and tell him that when he finds his miracle recording device to let me know because I needed the miracle audio playback device that goes with it so that while I'm out at the lake passing him in my boat on water skies I can be transcribing his reports.

UGH! They don't care who or what is on the other end of the recording.

I had a long, long report that was filled up mostly with another doctor's dictation, who was sitting nearby going a mile a minute dictating on his patient while my dictating doctor sat quietly thinking. Hi I posted this once but not sure if it went through. I use Olympus Transcriptoin Kit and can usually transcribe any type of voice file by dragging it into the system. One of my doctors accidentally encrypted his dictation and now my transcription module asks me for a password to decrypt it. MTSO suit tries to go to bat for us and asks if he would slow down. He won't. Makes you wonder who he is really battling here, as we are just trying to do a good job for him. TSM takes metric reports as gospel but there is no way they can be accurate with the line count and actual hours on server. I am sitting here waiting for work to trickle in.
