Do you wear headphones working at home? - cardmt

I just saw the other question re headphones and wondered how many use them working at home? I'm home alone while I'm working and just never thought to use them. I also seem to be able to hear better through the speakers. If you do use them, is it because you have better quality with them?

I used to just use my speakers because I really don't like wearing headphones or earbuds. But I've found that the sound quality is better with the headphones. Maybe I should just buy better speakers. I've developed tinnitus from sudden loud noises coming through the headphones. I'm sure if I'd been using the speakers it wouldn't have been a problem since the noise wouldn't have been directly in my ears. The most comfortable headphones I've found are the kind that wrap around the back of the head.

Say, is there anyone else out there who just uses speakers and can recommend a good brand?

Klipsch speakers - are excellent

and are much better even than the surround sound for the TV. However, I ALWAYS use headphones. There are just some voices that are better heard with the earphones right on your ears, particularly with bad dictators. I use BOSE headphones... expensive, as are the Klipsch speakers, but very much worth it!!!

When I first started out in-hospital back in the '90s, we were all supplied with ear buds. Eventually when we were transitioned home and those had to replaced, I switched to headphones. I prefer them to earbuds. I like the ones that have comfortable padded ear cushions that block out any noise and have volume control (a must for me).

As someone mentioned, my favorite were Bose. However, they had to be replaced too often as they would break from the wear and tear of taking them on and off. Too expensive at $300 a pop. Now I use Koss. Inexpensive enough that I keep a couple of spares.

Like the other MT, I now have tinnitus (spring peepers in my ear constantly) and a lot of trouble hearing the transcription files. Sometimes it just sounds like unintelligible garbage, which I am sure I could have heard more clearly earlier. I just wish there was some way to go off on disability because I can't hear this stuff clearly anymore.

Becoming pretty much inactive, get up, login and work. Get off, turn on the TV and lay down or maybe spend a few hours on your favorite website. As far as making meals, they are far and few between because you eat in between working, breaks or just grab something totally unhealthy when you get off. For years, I NEVER got dressed. Worked in sweats, pulled my hair back and that was it. For the past six months or so, I get completely dressed, put on makeup, and for some reason, I feel A LOT better now and enjoy my work more! I am needing to replace my computer-- my desktop is so slow it is really nonfunctional and I fried my laptop. My question is, I would prefer to buy another laptop but if I wanted to do work from home, does a laptop really suffice? Got an office job 3 days a week making $15 hour, still will do Mt prn, but won't have to stress anymore about my lines. I am glad I got to stay home with my kids over those years, but if I had to do it again, I would of stayed working.
