Current cpl - dahlia
Posted: Apr 15, 2013What is the current cpl rate that companies should be paying?
I think they "should" be paying at least 10 cents a line - but that is not what most are paying

Pay rates for MT are going down. I have seen as low as 5 cents per line for straight transcription and 3 cents per line for editing.
10 cpl plus eve & night differentials were what we got 20 yrs ago. - No more.. so sad. NM

I'd be happy with 6 and 9. - sm

With a good tailwind, I can do about 1.5 times as much with VR as I can with straight (NOT 2x), so considering that I was relatively content with 9 for straight transcription in the past, I think no less than 6 for VR would be fair.

here we go again. 10 cpl? I for one am worth 15 cpl which is what this job is supposed to be paying in the first place. MTs can't even speak up when you cannot honestly believe 10 cpl is what we are worth. that is called low self esteem and don't the MTSOs know this field is saturated with this kind of personality. Let's grow a pair people!
What good is a pair gonna do ya - when the house has a royal flush?

You will never see 15 cpl again in your lifetime or your grandkids lifetime, or their grandkids lifetime.
I said at least 10 cpl. I am also worth 15 cpl, but someone without experience - should not make as much

what's the difference. experience makes 8 cpl now and so does the not so experienced. I've considered applying as a new grad so maybe I'll get easy reports since we all make the same anyway and frankly I wouldn't care if newbies made 15 cpl just as long as I was making 15 cpl too.
I'd like to see 7 and 11. I got 9 for my first - lope

job when I wasn't even finished my transcription course 15 years ago. Once I had two or three years' experience I had one job 10 cpl and one 12 cpl. My first VR was 7 cpl. Then MedQuist started their crap and my small MTSOs had to actually cut my rate to 8 or 9 to stay alive. I just accepted a position with 15 years experience for .085 and 4 - and that can waver almost a whole cent quarterly if my "quality" falls. I am retraining as an EKG tech, or I never would have accepted that when I just left a 17.50/hour in-house job where I was replaced by EHR.

Current CMT's - Is It Worth It? Jan 08, 2011If I take the CMT test the goal is to increase my income from my current earnings as a full time MT/ME. But is it worth the $$ and time required to prepare for and take the CMT test? I am confident that I would have no problem passing the test after adequate review, etc.
So is it worth the effort? Bottom line -- it will cost money to take the exam and it will cost money to either enroll in a review course or buy review materials to prepare for the exam. And the CMT credential ...
