Can someone tell me about pay by audio minute/page? - aes
Posted: Sep 28, 2013
I am getting ready to test for this company (not medical) for a transcription job. They advised me that their starting pay (depending on account) is 0.40 per audio minute up to $1.25 per audio minute and then they have some accounts that pay 0.65 per page up to $1.75 per page. Does anyone know if I could make decent money doing this full-time? I know it depends on speed and quality of audio (which is supposed to be good) but I am just wondering how things go based on this type of pay option.
Thanks!
.40 per audio minute - sm

$.40 per audio minute = $24.00 per audio hour. By rule of thumb, it takes 3 to 4 hours to transcribe one audio hour. That means you would earn $6 to $8 per hour at $.40 per audio minute.
At $.65 per page, you would have to type 20 pages per hour to make $13.00 per hour, and if those were FULL pages (rather than just a paragraph or two) you would probably be looking at around $6.50 per hour.
Thank you! sm - aes

Pay Per Audio Talking Minute Jan 16, 2015Note, these are non-MT jobs.
I have been applying to jobs that pay per "audio talking minute." These are all basically customer service jobs which might include a little tech help and also might include some upselling.
Anyone have a take on this? After I quit MT, I SWORE I would never do any job that was not hourly or otherwise a guaranteed amount per paycheck.
Has anyone done this type of work? I guess I'm curious what "audio talking minute" means. I'm assuming it means not ...

Fox Transcriptions Pay Of 40-50 Cents Per Audio Minute Feb 06, 2013Even at 50 cents an audio minute, if you get a 10-minute report that would equate to $5.00. Usually it takes 30 minutes to do a 10-minute report so that would mean one would receive $10.00 an hour. If only getting 40 cents, that's $8.00 an hour.
PFFT! I don't see how this is any improvement over our standard slave wages, yet their ad sounds like they invented the wheel or sliced bread.
With a name like "Fox," it's got to be bad. (Apologies to Smucker's.)

Job Pays 30 Cents Per Audio Minute, Geez Jan 18, 2013So there is job posted that pays 30 cents an audio minute. How generous! You figure depending on the dictator and difficulty of transcript 60 minutes of audio is equal to 3 hours of transcribing. Granted, most of the time it does not take that long, but just in case for good measure we'll say 3 hours for 60 audio minutes. Do the math! 30 cents a minute x 60 (1 hr)= 1800. So another words, if you divide 1800 by 3 you get your hourly rate = 6 buck ...
