I make an average of $13/hour at $1.15/audio minute straight typing. There are too many factors to give you a per line figure. The one thing is that you would no longer be cursing the docs who pause to look in the chart. However, you do start to curse the ones who talk a mile a minute that require rewinds to hear everything. Seems to me it doesn't much matter "how" we are paid, we still make way less than we are worth.

Can Someone Tell Me About Pay By Audio Minute/page? Sep 28, 2013I am getting ready to test for this company (not medical) for a transcription job. They advised me that their starting pay (depending on account) is 0.40 per audio minute up to $1.25 per audio minute and then they have some accounts that pay 0.65 per page up to $1.75 per page. Does anyone know if I could make decent money doing this full-time? I know it depends on speed and quality of audio (which is supposed to be good) but I am just wondering how things go based on this type of pay option.

Pay Per Audio Talking Minute Jan 16, 2015Note, these are non-MT jobs.
I have been applying to jobs that pay per "audio talking minute." These are all basically customer service jobs which might include a little tech help and also might include some upselling.
Anyone have a take on this? After I quit MT, I SWORE I would never do any job that was not hourly or otherwise a guaranteed amount per paycheck.
Has anyone done this type of work? I guess I'm curious what "audio talking minute" means. I'm assuming it means not ...

Fox Transcriptions Pay Of 40-50 Cents Per Audio Minute Feb 06, 2013Even at 50 cents an audio minute, if you get a 10-minute report that would equate to $5.00. Usually it takes 30 minutes to do a 10-minute report so that would mean one would receive $10.00 an hour. If only getting 40 cents, that's $8.00 an hour.
PFFT! I don't see how this is any improvement over our standard slave wages, yet their ad sounds like they invented the wheel or sliced bread.
With a name like "Fox," it's got to be bad. (Apologies to Smucker's.)

Job Pays 30 Cents Per Audio Minute, Geez Jan 18, 2013So there is job posted that pays 30 cents an audio minute. How generous! You figure depending on the dictator and difficulty of transcript 60 minutes of audio is equal to 3 hours of transcribing. Granted, most of the time it does not take that long, but just in case for good measure we'll say 3 hours for 60 audio minutes. Do the math! 30 cents a minute x 60 (1 hr)= 1800. So another words, if you divide 1800 by 3 you get your hourly rate = 6 buck ...

Experienced MTs; Paid By The Line Or By The Audio Hour? Jun 11, 2013I've been an MT for over 5 years and have always been paid by the line. I would think that most MTs preferred wage is to be paid a set amount per hour. If this were not an option, what has given you more of an income, paid by the line or by the AUDIO hour? What I'm currently being offered per audio hour comes out to less than what I was paid per line at my previous job, but the reports are easier to understand so it may be worth it. It is basically both ...
