Anybody else get emotional typing child abuse reports? - sobbing

I cry like a baby.

Actually, this is why I left social work. I worked with abused children and couldn't handle anymore the horrible things we do to each other. At least now and I can cry in the privacy of my own home.

Not to start anything, but I cry over the abortion reports too.

I quit a cushy job at a children's hospital for that very reason - Could not take it anymore

This was about 15 years ago and the final straw for me was a report where a little 2-1/2-year-old boy had been kicked, beaten, and thrown into a wall by his mother, causing a tremendous amount of physical injuries, not the least of which was detaching both of his retinas.

In the final summation, the social worker on the case said the ultimate goal was REUNIFICATION WITH MOTHER.

I re-read that child's list of injuries, re-read the "goal" of reuniting that poor child with his monster of a mother, and had to step away from my desk.

I turned in my two-week notice the next morning.

Nope, you're not alone. Kids and animals are my soft spots, and although I know horrid things happen to both, I can't deal with the details on a daily basis.

but I think that the abusers should be locked in a cell and subjected to the same beatings/injuries as they had caused on the child daily for x amount of years depending on severity, only in adult doses.

I just typed on a child who has been back and forth between her abusive mother and foster care 4 times along with her baby brother! What are the courts thinking? I think that if it happens once, that's it, no more chances. There are thousands of loving parents out there who want to adopt, but can't afford the $10k+ to do so; myself included, and yet they still try to reunite with unworthy parents.

No one is going to do it for us. There is wage theft, minimum wage, changing of timecards, disrespect for our knowledge, ridiculous working conditions, bad management, and no communication. I had to TYPE them, OMG! I type for a pediatric clinic and these name spellings are outrageous! The way my platform works, I type in the patient's name the way it sounds and after the dictation is done a search list comes up and I am ALWAYS having to go back and change the spelling I gave. I used to think it was all cute to spell a child's name different, but now if another, I may name her "Mary" LOL. I just typed on a kid named Jacob, but of course it was spell ...
