child exam questions - mt3

Posted: Aug 10, 2010

Would this go under genitourinary or skin exam:

The diaper area has an erythematous rash.  There are no open areas at this time.  There are no abnormalities of the scrotum.

Also, Prilosec for rhinitis?

Thanks.

I would post under GU - per prior pediatric experience

nm

Yes, For rhinitis that is thought to be related to acid reflux disease - Prilosec

[ In Reply To ..]

Yes.  Many medications have multiple uses that do not seem to be related.

Reflux Medications

"For rhinitis that is thought to be related to acid reflux disease, antacids (Maalox, Mylanta) can help to neutralize acid contents, whereas other medications [cimetidine (Tagamet), famotidine (Pepcid), omeprazole (Prilosec)] can decrease stomach acid production. Non-pharmacological treatments include avoiding late evening meals and snacks and the elimination of alcohol and caffeine. Elevating the head of the bed may help to decrease reflux during sleep."

I Always Thought It Was Cute To Spell A Child's Name Different
Mar 22, 2013

I had to TYPE them, OMG!  I type for a pediatric clinic and these name spellings are outrageous!  The way my platform works, I type in the patient's name the way it sounds and after the dictation is done a search list comes up and I am ALWAYS having to go back and change the spelling I gave.  I used to think it was all cute to spell a child's name different, but now if another, I may name her "Mary" LOL.  I just typed on a kid named Jacob, but of course it was spell ...

Can Anyone Take The RMT Exam?
Mar 23, 2010

...or are there pre-reqs?  I've looked at the main ahdi website, I just wasn't sure if when they say that you have to "apply" if that means they will look at your experience and either accept or deny you or whether applying is simply a formality so they know you want to take the test. Also, if you've already taken the test, what were some of the toughest sections (for you personally)?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ...
