This job posting prompted a cynical snort from me:
"If you could give career advice to the 20-year old version of you, what would you say? If the answer isn't "nothing" - we want you! We're looking for personable medical transcriptionists with 5+ years of experience to join our team of industry experts on a consultancy basis. Selected candidates will advise new and soon-to-be medical transcriptionists - answering career-based questions and helping them get ahead."
I saw that ad too, and also snorted! ;) I'm sorry, - but no matter how much I... -Slowpoke

needed the money, there's no way I could advise people thinking of medical transcription as a career to do anything other than run away as fast as their little newbie legs can carry them.
In 1975, it was a good way to earn a living. In 2014, becoming an MT is shooting yourself in the foot financially.

To Those Doing The MT/MME Position Jan 15, 2010I know from previous posts on here that that job isn't the big thing MQ was making it out to be (horrible editing pay, etc). BUT...do you guys at least have work to do, whether it is typing or editing? I am just an MT and I run out of work daily. If I had become an MME as well, would I have at least been making a little money, or are you guys running out of work too, no matter what?
Thanks. ...

MME Position Apr 03, 2012Are there any MMEs out there who regret having become an MME? And if you become an MME, are you able to go back to just MT status if you decide you do not like it?
I am trying to understand how this is considered a pay boost and if it is worth testing for.
Did you see a significant increase in pay, a slight increase, no increase at all, or did you actually lose money?
Thanks. ...
