Transcend "advisory boards". I would think everyone should be - nonbeliever

Posted: Feb 28, 2011

leary of getting involved in these 2 projects.  The leaders have proven to many of us that they cannot be trusted and will just work to hold whatever is said or suggested against you.  The employee advocate is a joke.

I've learned the hard way to NEVER given an - "employee advocate" the time of day -

let alone any real information.

Employee advocate--you are totally right in your statement - Ex-Transcend MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I made the biggest mistake of my life by believing the employee advocate a year ago, which led to my being terminated from my job. I believed she could help me with my problems with management, and the way in which they were covering up some things, and she turned against me and sided with management. The only thing they did was get her to spy on the MTs and take any information back to management so that they could terminate myself and other MTs. I was terribly hurt by what she and her superiors did, and then she also turned on me in order to save herself. They do come on here and when they find out that the MTs are expressing their opinions they investigate, which I have been told they do, and this leads to someone losing their job. You have a right not to trust the advocate.

I was leery of the "advocate" when I realized she was ex-TRS - nonbeliever too

...and finagled a management(-type) position for herself after a Transcend buyout. I worked for TRS way back when and many of those belles were a two-faced bunch. Oh, and the fact that as a transcriptionist herself, the "employee advocate" told us - without missing a beat and in a take-it-or-leave-it tone - that much of our work would go offshore or VR showed how much of an "advocate" she really is for the employee. Maybe she is for foreign MTs, but certainly not for us.

What's supposed to be the purpose of these "advisory boards"? nm - nonbeliever too

if you can believe it, one of them is to improve trust in management. - nonbeliever

[ In Reply To ..]
Management has a long way to go before anyone will ever trust them. And then the usual, improve rewards and recognition(what rewards have they ever offered that have been fair), improve communications - a little like trying to get HR to quit talking in circles and state something clearly, and a lot more along the same lines. But I was just told that no need to worry about applying, they had already preselected the yes men/women they wanted on the boards so they would look good.

Like trusting a serial killer with a machete! ROFL!! nm! - nonbeliever too

They preselected their own advisory board?? - LOL

[ In Reply To ..]
Let me see...they totally ruin their reputation in the MT world with bad management, bad hiring tactics, and bad communication, so they set up an advisory board in a effort to improve their reputation. You mean the CEO's "open door" policy finally revealed The Wizard in his Oz...er, I mean office and all his Lollypop ROMs?

So, now they want to promote honesty and true openness by creating advisory boards, and kind of like Uncle Sam, they want YOU! Yet, in all their advertising for applicants they had the boards already preselected. Yep, sounds like their bid for honesty is about as genuine as they are.

Advisory boards - Skeptic

I would be very, very careful about these s0-called boards. Say as little as possible. Keep your mouths shut and your heads down.

Have to agree. T's long-term squirrely management comes - from the top. No fix without fixing that.

Year after year it's the same stories, same sort of counterproductive behavior from people high and low who are never fired (thinking of one particular QA acter-outer here), same shooting themselves (and any unfortunate MTs in the way) in the foot, on and on. Remarkable that they do as well as they do, big-name clients, but frequently astonishingly bad management.

Have to agree - The Shadow

There is an old proverb that says all the little chickens come home to roost. Transcend will get its day, just wait.

Have to agree - disagree - Been there

I have been reading the posts over the past week and I see the same people posting. I too have been through an acquisition to Transcend and I think they must be doing something right because I am still here and so are my co-workers. I am typing and editing and have been through all the editing classes as suggested and I am making more money now than I ever had before. My accounts are only off-shored on third shift and my supervisor explained to me that it is very hard to find any MTs that want to work third shift. I know for one I do not want to. I think they must be doing something right because I never had communication from my old company even when I asked a question, and I felt like they didn't know I worked for them. I would have to say, after reading all these posts, that my success is what I made it. Instead of whining and complaining about everything, I stuck with it and I have never been happier.

Transcend's management is a joke. I now have a lawsuit in the works because they did not send in the paperwork for my disability insurance and last summer when I had to have two major surgeries in two weeks, 3 months of hospitalization and home health nurses with 24 hour a day iv antibiotics due to a MRSA infection, I suddenly found that the insurance I had been paying through my payroll deduction had not been sent in to the insurer and hence, I DO not have disability insurance or the life insurance...not only that, but the idiots refuse to return my premiums...Advisory board??? ROFLMAO...some good PR/damage control is what they need...run fast from transcend or make sure you check that you have the insurance you are paying for...it is a nightmare I have been dealing with now since 05/10.

I hope the judge nails them to the wall. - sm

If at all possible, please don't settle out of court. These large companies get away with all this crap because they think we don't have the financial means to fight them. I would take it in front of a jury of your peers because I think you would get a good judgment. I know if I was on the jury, the punative damages would be through the roof.

I hope you can nail them but good. I hope you have a pit bull attorney who will bite them in the ***. Just remember, everybody, many of the people who came to Transcend from MDI had worked for MQ before at high levels. They must have memorized the MQ playbook well and are now using it. PL, again, I am really sorry for your medical situation, and I hope that you prevail in your legal action! Good luck to you.

thanks to all of you for your support - pl

Thanks to all you lovely gals for your support. I must admit this all has really gotten me down to the point that I almost lost my home, lost my insurance, and wanted to end my life...just remember...NO JOB IS WORTH YOUR SANITY OR LIFE! that is what lawyers are for. I just did not want the same thing to happen to anyone else...REMEMBER...Check your insurance benefits BEFORE you need them with Transcend...they took out my premiums and refuse to even return that...Good luck to all of you hard working gals... love ya all.

Good for you !!! - RLee

Hope your lawyer makes them pay dearly. Sorry for your medical condition and the extra stress this situation no doubt put on you. What goes around comes around and hopefully Transcend will feel some of the pain you have experienced. Good luck to you.

I Think We Need Two Nuance Boards
Jan 22, 2015

Sometimes I think we need two Nuance boards.  One for everyone who is disgruntled and need a place to vent, and another for those of us who are trying to keep a positive outlook can find some encouragement.  The "Gooooood Morning" post a few days ago made me think about that.  It would be good to interact with our fellow Nuance coworkers, but after visiting the board, I am usually upset and rattled by all the negativity...... ...

COMMENTS TO MTSO'S WHO READ THESE BOARDS
Jun 26, 2011

As much as we all like for things to go back the way they were before VR, before offshoring, before the EMR, that is unlikely to happen.  I come from an era of transcription where we actually could support ourselves on being a medical transcriptionist.  Unfortunately, that is not the case with transcription any longer.  I work for three different companies and there isn't a dime's worth of diference in any of them low pay, long hours, supervisors that are not MTs that ar ...

Fact Checker - Those Of Us Who Have Read These Boards
Sep 02, 2010

for a while know you must be "that guy" whose responsibility it is to come here and do damage control.  Whenever something big happens in a company or an MT gets a raw deal, there is always someone who attaches themselves to a thread to blame the MT - obviously their quality sucked or clearly they didn't show up for work or everyone else is getting laid off so why not you. Here's the thing - we see you a mile away. The fact that you randomly decided to show up on the boards  ...

Now I Know Why People Post Questions On The Boards Rather Than Ask Supervisors
Jan 18, 2010

The original company I worked for was sold to a big company and I had loads of unanswered questions.  I would call supervisor or someone who had been in contact with the peeps from my old company and ask away.  Now I find out I have been labeled a troublemaker because I ask too many questions.  I guess I would have been wiser to just come on this board and fire away with complaints, questions or anything else I wanted to know.  I know my future is gone now where I am. &n ...

Any MTSOs On These Boards Anymore? Question For Someone Who Is Either MTSO Or Has Their Own Clients
Apr 29, 2015

I have been using OLD system with Windows 2000 and Outlook express to run the Digital Dictate and Express Delegate.  It is finally starting to give me issues.  I was looking into jsut upgrading to a new platform, BUT with all the cloud type places out there, the idea of not having to deal with equipment at all is quite intriguing. Who is using something beside Dial Dictate and Express Delegate to get their dictations and send to any MTs working with them?   Thanks  Maggie ...

VR At Transcend
Nov 18, 2009

Did VR develop Alzheimer's?  It has lost everything.  I am tired of no commas, periods, and everything else it reverted back to since its infancy.  It is really true that now you can transcribe faster than you can edit.  Does anyone even care?  Do you know how many times you have to stop in the middle of labs to put in punctuation?   This has been going on for over a month and I haven't noticed any big push to get it fixed.  Just another way to m ...

Transcend TLs ??
Feb 08, 2010

I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements.  They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well .  I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing.  They get paid a flat fee per month for their administrative duties on top of that.  I wonder if they are experiencing no work and looking at a blank screen most of their time& ...

About Transcend
Mar 28, 2010

I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good.  However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much. Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem.  On the other hand, for example MDI/Transcend, for the most part does not seem to fit that description. You have to remember ...

VR With Transcend?

May 19, 2010

Google Star Clip Itz Note Holder w/ Metal Rod & Alligator Clip to see exactly how much it cost Transcend per MT for this gift that bears so much thought and appreciation.  Do they really not realize how it affects their corporate image when their priority is placed on spending $600,000+ on a failed business venture versus the amount spent to "appreciate" the motor that makes their business run?  That's like spending more than a half million dollars to buy a garage to hous ...

Transcend....yet Again

Transcend/DTS
Jun 25, 2011

Did anyone else get the memo from Transcend (soon to take over from DTS) about the line rate change for the transitioning employees from DTS?  It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected.  It is happening exactly how the posters on this board that have been through takeovers by Transcend said - decreased pay. I gave my notice already BT ...
