i keep seeing posts all over the internet about how hard it is to get a Coding job. sm - hrmmmmmmmmmm

i was on facebook and saw quite a few recently certified coders having a really hard time finding jobs. Also in various other forums that are related to coding on line.

Ive even seen some negative posts about how coding is a dying field and that people shouldnt get into it.

This is depressing to me. I want to get into coding. What are anyones feelings on this?

a lot of people complain about how hard it is to find an MT job and out of about a dozen apps I did I got 6 offers, so, just because others are having a hard time doesn't mean YOU will. If you want to do it, and you are a good study, hard worker, and make yourself available, you will find a job. Don't let the internet and some people whining to keep you from doing what you want to do.

I see advertisements all the time for facilities needing coders, entry level and experienced alike. I want to do it too and started studying toward that goal. I'm going to try and get into a mentoring program, maybe an internship through my employer or local hospital. I'm letting certain employers know in advance of my graduation date in case something opens up. It is going to take some work but hopefully it will all work out for me. I personally don't think that MT is dead and buried yet but that's just my opinion, I've had job offers when others say they can't find work. If you want to learn coding, go for it! My experience with this board in general is that a lot of people are unhappy and seem to be able to suck others into that, don't believe everything you read!

and she started out working in our hospital as a clerk. I don't see the demand for coders accommodating all the MTs wanting to switch over. I also see a lot of coding jobs getting automated and/or going off shore. Seriously, if you want a job in the future, anything you can do at home can be done overseas. Stick to something hands on. I would go for physical therapy asst. The pay is great.

Some of us are not good at jobs involving direct patient care, I am one of those people. Physical therapy assistant does not appeal to me at all and I rarely see any job openings either, at least in my town. I have 10 years until retirement and don't want to spend a lot of time in school, I'm trying to build on the skills that I already have. A person needs to do what they feel is right for them, not what some total stranger on a message board tells them to do.

This may be an obvious question to most, but how do I print a hard copy of a document I recently completed on EditScript? Or can I? I'd like to keep a copy of what "I edited/typed myself" before the QA reviews it, so that I can see my errors and learn from them, or have something to back me up if I disagree. I have been looking around the boards for a bit and I see everyone complaining about working for peanuts (or less) for their MTSO. I currently work at home for a somewhat local hospital in my area. They sent all of their transcriptionists home about 6 years ago and their coders are home now too. I know that the other big hospital system in my area has all of their transcriptionsts at home too. Is it really that hard to find a job like mine or did I just get lucky? ...

I'm surprised I haven't received performance management yet. I just cannot keep my line count up high enough since going to Fluency 7.6. This is too frustrating. My sister is taking an online coding course and complains that there is no real "teaching," that she's basically just doing the work in the work book and entering answers online, then taking an online chapter test.
