The time I spoke with them they were nice enough, but they wouldn't allow the use of a spellchecker. They said there were too many errors in peoples spellcheckers from adding the wrong spellings. I didn't have time to look up the exact spelling of everything - too time consuming. You might check about it.

I worked there briefly. I had to have a complete background check to do VA work, fingerprints and this very long in-depth application. They do contact your references. They weren't a bad company, but their platform was really bad, almost MS-DOS like. Terrible spellcheck. The only expander that would work was Shorthand. I hated to leave but couldn't work with that platform. Hopefully they've improved it since it has been several years since I was there.

Don't know what you mean about not having a spellchecker able to be used - I use Short Cut and it works fine. I was hired immediately after a phone call because I had done the background check when I worked for K&R and that isn't that involved - you just get fingerprinted at the copiously shop and fill out some paperwork like any other position. Platform takes some getting used to but once you build up your glossary and get up to speed, like anywhere else, you do fine. I love my supervisors, they don't bug me and their pay is better than others. That's my 2 cents.

Would someone explain to me how is that this company can legally pay us a lower rate for ASR compared to transcription? Since the advent of voice recognition and overseas outsourcing, transcription has ceased to be a profession. I will NEVER -- repeat, NEVER make the money I was making as a transcriptionist at a hospital 5 years ago, before we were replaced by VR and cheap outsourcing to India. Now all that's left are transcription companies here in the U.S. that don't want to pay much more, lie to us and tamper with our line counts. GET OUT, GET OUT OF TRANSCRIPTION! ...

It seems that everyone has negative things to say about how employers do not pay MTs what they're worth and how they offshore the easy stuff, but pile on the lousy ESL stuff on the transcriptionists in the States. Too bad there can't be a general strike of U.S. MTs - a day without transcription - just to show how we're needed. It seems to be the only thing employers would understand.
