anyone else find this interesting? - devilsadvocate

On 4/2 a job posting was listed for part-time psychiatry work out of a "small transcription company out of Ohio" that could lead to full time work. Now there is a job listing for a P.r.n. cardiologist transcriptionist that has to have experience to start right away but the rest of the entire posting looks identical to the psych opening and now the psych opening ad is gone? Think they are running some sort of scam?

Anyone else find this interesting - greyhound mom

If it is the same company, maybe when they have openings for different specialties, they just change whatever is appropriate.

Just my thought.

I applied - peaches

for the cardiac position, but never heard back. Strange...

Could be that it's a specialty clinic that has accounts - four cardiology, psychiatry..see msg

[ In Reply To ..]
neurology or whatever else. It it's a multispecialty clinic or they have more they have various accounts, not uncommon.

But I do see what your saying.

sorry about typos, mean to say "for" and "if" - nm

I'm use to an ergo keyboard and when I'm on my home computer it has a regular keyboard, so have a tendency to make a ton of mistakes.

well, that's not it - devilsadvocate

Well, that might be the case except the psychiatry one was from Wood Transcription out of somewhere in Ohio with DiAnne as the contact and this is for Crystal's Home Transcription out of Fort Gibson, OK but the ads read identical except for the specialties. Wonder what kind of scam they are pulling?
Maybe they just admired the ad - and copied it? nm

just sayin
LOL!!! I wouldn't know, I'm so thankful I'm not - job hunting right now and hopefully

I wont be anytime soon. If it sounds questionable, just dont apply.

Not a scam...why are you so paranoid? - MT

I was contacted for the psych job...she had 50 replies in the first hour of posting the ad and was looking to hire right away. Many of the job postings I have seen on here disappear. As soon as they have hired or don't want to be bombarded with replies any longer, they will remove their ad. If the cardiology position is listed for the first time, whose to say the person didn't just copy the ad from the psych job because they really didn't know what to say. It's not uncommon for job ads to look the same. Talk about paranoid!!

It might be Chase Transcription - tinear

[ In Reply To ..]
They're out of Hudson Ohio which is 40 miles from where I live and I've been trying to get in there for 2 years, but they act like they're pretending to have jobs, so I would beware of them as possibly bogus and the very least unreliable.

NOT A SCAM - Crystal

[ In Reply To ..]
I am the person that posted the ad for Crystal's Home Transcription and no it was not a scam. I did look off of that ad because it was a lot of what I was looking for too. If anyone applied and did not get a response back it is because I have over 100 emails and I simply don't have time to respond to everyone and the position has been filled. I just needed to hire someone quickly and wanted to make sure my post wouldn't be deleted by the moderator for not putting everything in it correctly but I dod not copy the ad.

Sorry - Crystal

But I do see how it could look like a scam but I didn't mean for it to look that way to anyone so I will apoligize for the confusion.

Interesting Find In The TSG Just Now ...
Apr 01, 2014

Isn't it interesting that the Transcription Style Guide gives this example:  "gram negative not gram-"   ...withOUT noting that the "Gram" in Gram negative is capitalized?  The name "Gram" in this laboratory test comes from the scientist's name who developed the test, thus in hospitals, labs, etc it is duly noted as "Gram stain", NOT "gram stain".  Why wouldn't MModal recognize it as such in the TSG?  ...

I think it is very interesting how a company will make you jump through hoops to "prove" you are an independent contractor but still want you to use an employee based punch in/out system. You don't get it both ways, if I am an independent contractor, then I don't have to use your employee based punch system, especially when you want to charge for it but to keep track of my own hours is free. ...

I saw an ad for radiology.  It states no experience necessary.  Paid training is available.  Typing skills are a plus but not required.  Earn up to $30,000 part time adn $55,000 full time.  How can someone post an ad like this.   Obviously it is an ad to train for medical transcription.  I hope that no one falls for this. ...

It Will Be Interesting To See What Happens When
Jan 28, 2014

Been reading the business perspective of what will happen when (not if - when) minimum wage is increased, and 99% of companies who employ low income workers say that will be the day they lay off most of their employees, or have to close their doors altogether.  Not that I expect MModal to ever "close their doors", but that does leave open the other alternative for a huge layoff as the need to "supplement" employees who aren't earning minimum wage, or who don't meet their ridiculou ...

Something That I Found Very Interesting
Nov 21, 2009

Just for the heck of it, I went to the resume section of this board, and noticed there were quite a few MTs with "entry-level or less than 5 year's experience" wanting to be compensated 10-15 cpl  -- I really seriously doubt that is going to happen, especially for a "newer" MT.  I would suggest that if you are really serious about finding a job in MT, then revise your expected compensation rate to something a bit more realistic. ...

Isn't It Interesting That Newbies Are Getting
Jul 01, 2010

us oldies are getting below 98%, in some cases waaayy below, after years or decades of exemplary work, with raises, etc. How much more obvious can it get that they're downsizing the highest paid (and most experienced) MT/ME, to hire the newbies and get the tax breaks. Something Interesting I Noticed.....
Jun 15, 2011

I work in-house at a clinic.  When I'm reading over reports from the transcription service, I noticed there are no periods after "Mr.," "Dr.," and so forth.  The transcriptionists type them as Dr, Mr, Mrs, etc.  Is this yet another way to cheat the MTs out of keystrokes?  If so, that's pretty pathetic. ...
