What is a good rate for VR and straight typing? - redmaj

I have been out of the market for a few years and trying to get a part time job. Have an interview today, but my question is what should I expect is a fair wage per line? VR and straight typing. I have 30 years transcription experience. Would appreciate it if someone could help me out here!!!

This is only a good rate if you are not on 7 or 8 different accounts who all want everything different, down to the way they type the dates, the spaces they want at the bottom, the format... bold text, no bold text, capitalized text, no capitalized text, forbidden characters.... It doesn't seem possible.

Since no one can possibly edit twice as fast as they type, I believe 30% lower is fair. This also doesn't seem possible. The question was asked and I'm answering. The above rates are what I believe are fair. They shouldn't be based on how much you send to QA either. Maybe they could vary slightly based on experience.

I used to make 11 for straight typing. Boy did I love my job then. I used to make 8 to edit. This is before places like Nuance came along and treated us all like kids who get summer jobs at McDonald's, live at home, don't really need money except for doing fun stuff, don't need to pay bills and didn't invest time and money in a CAREER.

As long am i am able to work and have bills to pay, I wouldn't rule out ANYTHING. From where I'm sitting 15 bucks an hour is a goldmine compared to what Ive made so far.

I really wish I understood the logic behind paying 4 cpl for VR as opposed to 8 for straight typing. Do these people think it takes us exactly half the time? I personally, am getting really tired of the posts regarding "who is the best company to work for, who offers straight tying as ooposed t to VR etc. I now worK for a company that is straight typing only and pays weekly. and pays a decent wage. Got new accounts for the last 2 weeks that are not ASR (yet) so have been doing about 90% straight typing. I have been averaging about $20 more per day than when I do ASR. Hmm, let's see. We get a letter from MQ extolling our virtues as MTs, more and more info about nationalizing the EMR with Verizon, etc. and I notice I'm not the only one getting less ASR, more direct typing. I have a pretty good and accurate typing speed, which has made me pretty good money in the past. Then along comes VR. I have had somewhat success with it, if the right dictation is placed on it. The problem comes in when a company tries to put anything and everything on VR that does not belong there. It defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. I left the Q (thank heavens) and now doing straight typing. Before the voice wreck I was transcribing 200 to 250 lph and now with this new job with word (horrible program) I can't get above 150 lph. What's wrong with me or is it the program? Just don't understand. Thx ...
