Where oh where do people find these straight typing jobs? If you don't want to share your company I completely understand, but could you possibly point me in the right direction?

Sign of the times now is ASR. It is horrible, I know. This whole profession along with straight typing will be down the toilet very shortly.

Have your tried legal transcription? Probably more straight typing there.

I keep posting on here that Patient First out of Glen Allen Virginia is hiring and they are trying to hire a lot of transcriptionists. Patient First has now 52 urgent care clinics around Virginia, Maryland, Washington, Boston, Pensylvania and they are now breaking into New Jersey.

It takes awhile to get into PF but it was definitely worth the wait. I have been there almost 3 years and never, not 1 day, have I ran out of work. We are so far behind this is the second time this year we have been on mandatory OT, last time was 3 months, this time at least 2 months and probably more.

We are opening 5 new centers in New Jersey and Pensylvania by the end of this year and as it is we cannot keep up with the work so we need transcriptionists definitely. We have about 100 transcriptionists now and we cannot keep up with the work.

They were needing radiology and I have over 30 years experience. Perhaps I should apply every day twice a day.

You just don't do radiology, you also have to do medical records also. Do you have experience with clinic notes? That is what the test was a clinic note. If you just have radiology experience they won't hire you because we have to do the clinic notes also. I don't know how you did on the test, either written or transcription so I can't say why they didn't call you. I do know it takes a while for them to call people. They hire a few, get then trained which takes 30 full days, then they hire more.

Have you tried calling them?

A clinic note? Did 3 clinic notes and an x-ray or 2/2, dont remember. - was easy enough and yes

I have applied two different times. I responded to an ad when they were hiring about 2 years ago and then again when I recently heard they were desperate for MTs. I received no response either time.

I urge NO ONE to bother with Patient First. Why are they so "desperate for MTs?" and why are they "always hiriing"? Also, if they need MTs so bad, why is it so hard to get into the door or why do they never respond back? RED FLAGS. There are TONS of threads here with many people complaining of the same thing - can't past their test, no responses, etc. I don't care what you wrote, something is not quite right about Patient First!

Got new accounts for the last 2 weeks that are not ASR (yet) so have been doing about 90% straight typing. I have been averaging about $20 more per day than when I do ASR. They can sell whatever snake oil they want, I can type faster and make more money straight typing than I can with their much-touted fabulous ASR --- EVEN ON BRAND NEW UNFAMILIAR ACCOUNTS. ...

Hmm, let's see. We get a letter from MQ extolling our virtues as MTs, more and more info about nationalizing the EMR with Verizon, etc. and I notice I'm not the only one getting less ASR, more direct typing. Could be a coincidence, but could be MQ is gathering statistics on us, how the voice recognition program of MQ compares with our production as MTs versus straight typing on our own. I have a pretty good and accurate typing speed, which has made me pretty good money in the past. Then along comes VR. I have had somewhat success with it, if the right dictation is placed on it. The problem comes in when a company tries to put anything and everything on VR that does not belong there. It defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. I used to love my job, being an at-home medical transcriptionist. I used to make around $20-25 an hour straight typing and thought being an at-home medical transcriptionist was the best job ever! The flexibility of working from home and flexing my hours was great! Ok everyone, need some advice please. At my old company I was straight typing and doing probably 1800 lines daily. I go do a new company and speech rec is all they have with probably 1% straight typing. I've been losing on the average of $600 per pay period as a result of speech rec. Little errors here and there. The influence of what SR has put out on what should be heard and the constant struggle with how much of the SR ouptut is wrong along with the loss of train of thought from having to stop so many times to correct, delete, move takes its toll.
