Why suddenly less ASR, more straight typing? - poodlepassion

Hmm, let's see. We get a letter from MQ extolling our virtues as MTs, more and more info about nationalizing the EMR with Verizon, etc. and I notice I'm not the only one getting less ASR, more direct typing. Could be a coincidence, but could be MQ is gathering statistics on us, how the voice recognition program of MQ compares with our production as MTs versus straight typing on our own. Could MQ be using us as guinea pigs right now to pad their statistics to prove their worth of existence in a new EMR? Stranger things have happened.

Are they new doctors or maybe a new account - completely ? If so, those

doctors have to dictate a certain amount before the ASR on them will be good to go. You're probably just training ASR to recognize them right now.

This week I have been averaging 200 minutes ASR per shift and if I do get a straight typing job it is an OP note. It used to be approximately 60-70% ASR, 30-40% typing. Anyone want to trade places? And they wonder why people leave. SA5, account that always has work. I had one 42 minute ASR neurology report this week which netted me 200 lines.

I made a similar post below. I usually run 80/20 (or more) on the ASR side, but not this week. For me it is the same accounts, OP notes/other report types and the same dictators. I was trying to find a pattern to it according to region. I am very happy to be getting my regular straight typing line rate.

Why are so many people noticing a change with more straight typing? For most of my shift today I started getting the cesspool again, which is very unusual for a Thursday. I got it yesterday afternoon, too, which is unusual for a Wednesday in our group. I'm wondering if Mr. Kumar is trying to shoot all the ASR over to India, and scramble to tie up loose ends with MQ, get rid of us U.S. MTs before anything happens with any federal healthcare changes or Verizon on the horizon.

Like the eye of the storm right? I have had a HELL of a week, production wise. Been camped at the desk giving MQ all that OT they always ask for. I was so happy I hadn't even stopped to question anything, but now you all have me thinking.

It's dubious at best, but holidays as close as they are I'm gonna run with it. I have to. Those of us who have it right now should take advantage. (like stocking up the canned goods and water before a storm ya know...)

My advice is to take it for what is is and enjoy it while it lasts. No sense in stressing on what is to come. We've taken some hard punches, but we're like Sly Stallone's Rocky character, keep coming back for more!

Got new accounts for the last 2 weeks that are not ASR (yet) so have been doing about 90% straight typing. I have been averaging about $20 more per day than when I do ASR. They can sell whatever snake oil they want, I can type faster and make more money straight typing than I can with their much-touted fabulous ASR --- EVEN ON BRAND NEW UNFAMILIAR ACCOUNTS. ...

I have a pretty good and accurate typing speed, which has made me pretty good money in the past. Then along comes VR. I have had somewhat success with it, if the right dictation is placed on it. The problem comes in when a company tries to put anything and everything on VR that does not belong there. It defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. I used to love my job, being an at-home medical transcriptionist. I used to make around $20-25 an hour straight typing and thought being an at-home medical transcriptionist was the best job ever! The flexibility of working from home and flexing my hours was great! Little errors here and there. The influence of what SR has put out on what should be heard and the constant struggle with how much of the SR ouptut is wrong along with the loss of train of thought from having to stop so many times to correct, delete, move takes its toll.
