United Health/Axolotl - frustrated

Recently started with Axolotl (now part of United Health Group). I have 18 years experience and the account they put me on has to be THE WORST I have ever experienced, 99.9% horrible ESL's, on top of which their M*Modal platform is very, very slow. I have worked at other companies using M*Modal and did not find this to be the case with them. This account is VR and they pay by the hour because apparently the dictators and platform are so bad, an MT can't make any money by the line. Also, QA is very tough and will ding you for the smallest errors.

Just wondering if there is anyone else on this board that works for or has worked for this company and any advice you may have. I am considering leaving at this point because it is just so stressful to have to listen to these doctors. I am just fried by the end of my shift every day.

One good thing, the benefits are great and very affordable, just don't know if it is worth all of the other BS!!!

It's according to what they pay per hour whether or not it is worth your time to deal with it.

It's enough to pull your hair out; QA is just as bad, too. Darned if you do and darned if you don't. I feel for you!! All I can say is good luck. Especially now that they are no longer "Axolotl". The website doesn't even mention that they perform transcription anymore. It always advertised the transcription portion of the business in a small paragraph at the bottom of the page, but it doesn't now with the new name change of "OptumInsight". I just wonder if it's not a bad sign for the transcription side of what used to be Axolotl. Their big business was always their EMR. I don't know what UHG would want with 60 MTs.

It seems just in the last few months it has been really bad with QA. Picking everything you do to death!! I think it's just a matter of time before the transcription will be phased out, because like the above poster said, what WOULD UHG want with 60 transcriptionists?

I feel for you as well. This company used to be the BOMB to work for. It was a wonderful company before Ingenix/United Health Group or whoever the heck has the company now. It depends on who is QAing you as to how many dings you get. Usually if the supervisor is doing QA you will get dinged for EVERYTHING. Also, QA didn't use to ding for just the smallest thing. But, again, if the supervisor is doing the QA you WILL get dinged. I don't have any advice for you, but I am truly sorry you are on that hell account.

The hourly rate is good, but I think the 1600 lines per day thing is a bit much, especially if you happen to have an account still in which you are typing, depending on what account you have. MModal is HORRIBLE. It doesn't learn crap. I still have to edit the SAME headings, the SAME words. Also, if you don't have a constant document open and working, the system clock doesn't tick. So, what time you report versus what the system says better match pretty closely or you are interrogated as to why they don't match. I don't even know why they have us clock in and out. I used to truly love and adore this company, but it's just a joke now. I've been there for many years and never in my life have I seen such a horrible change since they were taken over. The supervisors must be feeling the pinch, too, because they are snappy if you fquestion anything where as they didn't used to be. Maybe it would be a blesing if UHG phased it out.

tell me how that works? I know the insurance premiums are less than a regular health plan. If your company puts 500 in your account, does that mean the first few times, for example, until you use up the 500, you don't pay ANYTHING or is it the opposite...you pay the entire office visit cost until you reach that 500? I would be so grateful for any information about this type of plan. TIA ...

Is it only me or is anyone else losing serious money here? for the past 6 months I have NOT been able to make more than 950 dollars a month take-home. now with the new program my pay is even less. Please, is this happening to anyone else or am I being singled out. no matter what I do I cannot make more than 220 to 250 dollars a week in may paycheck, and am onily getting paid twice a month. Got a call from Axolotl today about interviewing. Have heard good things in the past, but saw they were just acquired by another company. Any current employees with advice? Pay rates/platform? Is it straight MT or do they have VR also? Affordable benefits? Would appreciate any information. 2 MTs are filing a TAA petition. 3 are needed to apply online ourselves. It is just a petition, nothing against the employer and, if nothing comes of it, at least we stood up to let the federal government know we are losing our jobs to overseas and due to technology.
