I read Trancend's newest job listing on the Job Seekers Board, which gave me a good laugh. "Are you tired of working for the same old type of MTSO where managers donĂ¢€™t return your calls or emails, you never have enough work, or you canĂ¢€™t work the hours that you signed up for? Then consider Transcend! If you work for another MTSO and have heard that your work will be going offshore, then consider jumping over to Transcend before your ship sinks!" I personally find this false advertising - they do not live up to what they say and YES I know this firsthand. Jump over to Transcend before your ship sinks. I think their ship is sinking by reading some of the comments on this board. My experience was managers did not return emails, I never had enough work, and as far as hours - I had to allot myself 12 to 14 hours to get in 8 hours of work and most days still could not meet my line requirements. Signed up schedule - that is a joke!!! No OFFSHORING - yeah right. Thank you for forcing me off your "ship." I think your ship needs a new captain. Yada, yada, yada. Just my own opinion from my personal experience before anyone bashes me.

However, not everyone has had your experience with Transcend. I liked Transcend but I could not continue on due to a personal matter. I had all of my questions answered in a moment's notice. They fit me with a specialty and schedule that would have been perfect. I had a death in the family and when I went back to them, they had a different opportunity available.
Also, keep in mind that according to the board rules, we are not to be picking apart job advertisements as the companies will not want to advertise here, and as you can see from the jobs wanted board, some people want and need these companies to advertise here. Do you see how many of us are looking for a job?
With that being said if you do not want to be bashed, then why do you keep up this same old repeat information every chance you get. You are all over this board bashing Transcend. Move on already, darn! Let some other people have a chance at a job. Some of us here would be willing to work for next to nothing just to keep some cash flowing in.

I feel their ship needs new captains who care about their deckhands. The name of their ship should be called the "Deadliest Catch." Good for you - you had a different experience than I did. Yes - I do know alot of "us" are looking for work and am well aware of the job situation in these economic times. However,I do not see how my posting about Transcend has anythng to do with others not having a chance at a job.

If you put half as much effort into looking for work as you do posting on this board, you'd probably have some good economic times. Everyone knows about your experience with Transcend....give it a rest. Did you ever hear the old saying "though protesteth too much?" ....Makes me feel like you must have been partly to blame for your no longer being employed there - there are 2 sides to a story, and we've only heard yours, quite unprofessionally, I might add.

She had it in the bag in her mind of this new job by a company who sees things her way. Where is that job now? Where is any transcription job for her now?

RLee is entitled to his/her opinion of Transcend just as much as you are entitled to your opinion. But if you don't like them, then for heaven's sake just skip over them and don't read them.

I am not so concerned about Transcend (personally I loathe them), but I worry that RLee's dislike of them has turned into an obsession which is depriving her or him of the chance to spend time doing more productive things. Transcend has liteally stolen this person's life. For each minute spent bashing Transcend, that is a minute lost that could be spend doing something productive. Just sayin.

Why don't you skip past my response to R Lee - she is only looking for a nice law suit slapped on her anyway. She is just bashing, bashing, bashing. Anyone can read the archives.
We are not to pick apart job ads - end of story! Stop encouraging R Lee - it only makes her feel important and she is not.

I've worked for quite a few MTSOs in my 20 years. The one thinhg I know for a fact is the ads go off of what the recruiter/HR knows from the policies and procedures given to them.
HOWEVER, with that said, the managers still have the final say so in letting you work your own schedule as well as how much they communicate with you individually and as a group.
As well, not every account an MTSO has is offshored. The facility has to give permission first.
It sounds to me like you may have had a poor manager(s) there.
Also, this job like every other is how you make it. I've personally had to switch my hours and drop from FT to PT so I could get another PT job to try to make up the lack of work I was getting at the FT job. I now make more money, work the hours I wanted and have a lot less stress than I did while working at the 1 FT job. It's the don't all put your eggs in 1 basket thing.
Good luck in what you decide to do in the future, whether continuing to work with MTSOs or moving on to greener pastures.

Has it ever occurred to you that there are lots of HAPPY MTs at Transcend? That maybe your experience was a way to force you to quit?
I understand you had a bad experience with them, but that doesn't mean this is the norm, nor does it mean it cannot change, nor does it mean it would be like that for another employee.
And yeah, we all know it's your personal experience, believe me :)

My ex-husband was in sales, marketing, customer service, etc. He always claimed (though I do not know where he got the statistic) that studies have shown that for every 1 unhappy/complaining customer, there are 9 happy/noncomplaining customers. When customers/clients are happy, most often the vendor hears nothing about it.
Perhaps we can extrapolate this statistic to employees/contractors in the MT world.
In other words... for every single unhappy Transcender that comes here to complain, there could be as many as 9 perfectly happy ones who do NOT complain.

Here's what I don't get then. If you are unhappy, you have no work, no one listens to you, there's nothing positive about your association, then what would be so BAD about LOSING your job? I mean seriously.
I just can't figure out people who claim their situation is so untenable and yet seemingly do little to change their plight.
If you hate it there, LEAVE. Don't wait to be "loosened." There are plenty of places hiring MTs, jobs listed on various resources.

Yes, it was a typo, guess you never make them, the jolly person that you are. AND, the jobs out there are not that easy to get as you claim. So many resumes, not enough jobs to go around for each position posted. As I said, be careful what you say - what goes around comes around, and I hope you are still jolly then too. I applied for 4 jobs last week. I got 4 offers. And I'm applying for the same jobs that apparently everyone else is here and on the other job site. FOUR OFFERS.
Maybe you don't hear back cause the truly GOOD (and JOLLY) MTs are getting the jobs. I'm not going to accept all 4, do you want one?
Oh and the rates I was offered ranged from 8.5 to 11 cpl. So when I read on here that no one responds to resumes, or that no one can find a job, I have to really wonder why that is. I don't seem to have a problem at all.

I have a very good job now, not with Transcend, but somewhere nice. I have prior knowledge of Transcend, and know how they operate.

I did not QUIT - although Transcend was hoping I would. I hung in there and believe me it was for many months of putting in 12 to 14 hours to get my daily line count, as I needed a job. I think once they figured out I was not going to quit they decided to fire me, which was a mistake on their part as the unemployment office favored in my behalf after hearing BOTH sides of the story through a "fact finding interview." What is really pathetic is I am making $9.55 an hour unemployment, which is more than I made at Transencd in my last few months of employment as a full-time employee. I will continue to speak out about this company - believe me. I hope you can continue to use the nickname "jolly MT" if you are a Transcend employee, :) I was simply posting about what humor I found in the job advertisement, which I believe I am entitled to do, and my remarks are a validation from my "own personal experience" believe me. :)

First of all, I don't work for Transcend so I don't really have a dog in this fight. But having said that:
If you read the archives, it would seem to me that Transcend does everything that their new ad implies that they don't do.
Their new ad makes it sound like they don't offshore. And we know for a fact that they DO offshore.

If you are happy with working at Transcend, I think that's great. But why do you want to silence or ridicule the MTs who have NOT had a positive experience with Transcend?
That's what this "Company Board" is all about, to ask about and be able to hear about both the good AND the bad.

Every company has managers that SOMEONE will not get along with.
The problem with RLee's experience IMO is that it sounds like she was cut off and let go for a reason. Companies who are looking for MTs don't get rid of good MTs.
Yes, the Company Board is about sharing your views on companies. But it's one thing to say, "here was my experience", but RLee tends to take it to the nth degree and it always is more about her grudge. I'm pretty sure no one reading these pages is unaware of how she feels.
At some point, you have to move forward. Things change. People change. Services change. It's the nature of the beast.

There are obviously various different reasons why a company might fire a perfectly good MT. But one of the trends that I see happening now is that companies are finding reasons to fire their older MTs (who overall tend to make more), just so they can replace them with a newer MT at a lesser salary and line rate.

There is still FREEDOM OF SPEECH, although some posters on here make me wonder! I, for one, appreciate your forthrightness about your position at TS and what they did to you. I can only tell you that you are NOT the only one this has happened to, and unfortunately I doubt it will stop.
This board was built around honesty and helping other MTs. I feel you are doing that in an utterly fantastic way. Please don't heed those on here who bash you. Hang in there and let everybody have a piece of your experience. Undoubtedly there are some MTs who will appreciate that and not get caught in the web of that company. And, in that case, remember the old "sticks and stones" addage and go forward! Thanks!

Others don't want to hear it, don't click on on the post. I was hired without even being told it was for Beyond TXT voice recognition more than 90%. I tried it for 2 weeks and quit them, no regrets. Can't work for 6.7 cents a line EVER EVER EVER, plus terrible platform. AND alllll those contstant emails, the entire company gets all emails good grief..

It seems odd for them to promise saving people from other companies who offshore when they offshore themselves and have freely admitted they plan to up their offshoring percentage.
I also find the scheduling blurb a bit laughable, yeah, IF there is work when you are scheduled you can work your scheduled hours, but if not, you are pretty much stuck working outside that to make the $ quota. Also, the constant emails trying to guilt you into working more hours than you scheduled seem to negate some of their happy blurb.
From the use of all caps throughout their ad, I can imagine who wrote it, which makes it even funnier.
They likely aren't the worst company in the world and their pay at least for us slurped up from MDI was not terrible, but the stress and constant barrage of emails was so not worth it for me.
I am sure with a company this large, everyone's experience will be different. I gave it a very good chance after the merger, and it just wasn't for me. I have no big beef with them, but did find their ad funny.

That is because you were limited in what you could do, you stated this yourself. I work for Transcend, get emails returned within 15 minutes and have PLENTY of work, too much actually. I was worried about the change over from MDI, but this has been nothing but a positive experience. Sorry it did not work out for you.

before RLee posted. It was quite lengthy. I guess somebody said something the moderator did not like and they pulled the whole thing. At least I never saw it again. And it was not RLee who was that poster. If there is a bad guy here, it is not RLee. And as for the husband's theory of 9 happy MTs for every complaining one, that is how you can again blame the person with the negative experience. In my opinion, Transcend doesn't have any positives going for it. The post about their reputation made me almost choke.

It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected.
