To Transcend TLs, past or present - sm

Posted: Apr 12, 2011

What are the biggest challenges with your position?  Do you end up putting in more hours than you feel well compensated for?  Does it wear you out trying to keep up with your production as well as do your TL duties?  Is it more difficult to get vacation time scheduled as a TL?

TY!

Worst type of "management" job out there, my opinion. Most MTs don't work their schedules, and you have to brow beat some into even showing up. ROMs expect constant coverage of the "system" which makes any kind of real productivity impossible. Forty hours is not realistic, just for managing the ginormous amount of e-mails you have to sift through and respond to. And that stipend - not compensatory at all for what you do.

appreciate your reply - sm

Am not too surprised about the compensation being inadequate. I was a bit shocked that most MTs do not work their schedule and/or show up. wow. So probably TLs have to double-down on production trying to compensate for their team's lack? I figured these companies would can someone who didn't show up or work when expected. I guess the only reason I am even toying with the prospect of taking on that position besides the extra money, is that with my carpal tunnel symptoms, doing full production is a challenge anymore, but I sure don't want to be working 50-60 hours a week anymore either, even in nonproduction work.

You still have to put in full production in addition - Ex TL

to the TL duties. It surely is not going to help your carpal tunnel. Rather, the TL duties are in addition to your FT production requirement. You're so busy covering the system and answering emails it's a challenge getting your production in. Do plan on working 7 days a week.

Not enough money to work for the ROMs that have the openings. These - trcr

are the ROMs from hell and no one even wants to work in their regions as MLS. Stay where you are

Once a TL, you work 24/7 or at least on call 24/7...

RE TL - ex-TL

I worked at another company as a lead and it was a 24/7 job. Having to work vacations, when someone is sick or just didn't show up. I didn't have much of a life, and I would never again accept a position like that. I missed out on too many things with family and friend.

thank you all for the input. - OP

Past Or Present Tense Voice
May 07, 2010

Okay, I have been very confused about this lately.  When a doctor is reviewing medical reports from other providers and is documenting it within his report, should it be done in present tense or past tense??? I think that it should be done all in the past tense, but I have had arguments for both.  Basically, I just want the right answer.  For example, "The patient was seen on 06/10/09 and stated that he had right leg pain.  The report indicated that the patient had an antalg ...

Questions For Past/present Auditors
Mar 24, 2014

Couple of questions for any past/present auditors: 1. How long were you with MM before you moved to the auditing department? 2. Were you actively seeking the move or were you offered it out of the blue? 3. Are you making more or less than you were on production? 4. Do you focus on a certain number of accounts similar to HDS/SHDAs or are you required to cover whatever comes across your desk at any given time?   Thanks! ...

From What I Seen When Looking Up Past Docs In DQM
May 14, 2011

People are not doing a full listen/correction. There are some pretty blatant errors, and these errors are being repeated by subsequently dictating physicians who are obviously using other documents for information (as it should be). Blatant errors such as allergy to medications that don't even exit, blatant lab errors that are counter to some of the diagnoses. I shamefully admit to not doing a full listen when I first started voice recognition was back in the beginning, but quickly noted ...

Blast From The Past. Sm
Jan 08, 2015

I was purging papers and came across an earnings statement from TL in 2001 (yeah, I know, way overdue on cleaning out files). Back then, my base pay was 0.0925 and the 2-week pay after taxes, insurance, 401K was $1100. In comparison, today my base pay pretty much is 0.035 for VR and 0.07 for straight. It is possible to make a higher rate at Nuance, but it is not easy, so I do not expect it. My last take-home pay prior to the holidays was less than $600. Also, my TL line count was 3000 higher for ...
