I was just hoping that there would be some new and maybe information. : )

This job searching stuff is really hard after working for the same company for 7 years. My head is spinning from all of the companies, all of the so-called offers, all the negative I keep finding of each and every company. *sigh*.

Are there any good companies out there to even begin considering applying for? If so, who are they?

I have been applying to every company that I can find and every company that places an ad but no luck so far. There is some very recent info on SS and Oracle, some of it may be on this page and I know that some of it has been within the last month but again, I do not think that any of it has been good.

As far as good companies ... do they even exist any longer? I have over 20 years experience and the most that I have been offered is 8 CPL with the explanation that the reasoning for offering so low is because of competing with offshore .... whatever.

Softscript has no work right now for the employees that they have had for years. Would not listen when they say they have guaranteed work right now.

I am only part-time, but I have had no work going on almost a month now, and I even lost one of my accounts, as we are no longer typing that account.

I'm supposed to be full time but will be lucky if I have 6000 lines this pay period. sm - SSMT

My shortage of work started before the holidays, then they had the holidays to blame, and now the weather. I suppose now MLK Day will be the next thing they blame. Yet they constantly advertise and promise an abundance of work. My PM keeps saying it will get better, but it is hard to pay bills on promises and dreams.

Me too. What also kills me is when there is an abundance of work - they are on your butt to see where you are if you are not signed in on time. One day, I just did not bother to sign on at all (during the shortage of work period), and still got the automated call because I was not signed on. How long have you worked for them. I have been here since 2004 and it has NEVER been this bad

I have been there about 3 months. Not sure how much longer, though. nm - SSMT

Softscript let me go for not meeting production when the work was not available, then I had to take them to court to get a measly 1 week of unemployment!!

to come through, which is the same song and dance I've heard from them for about 2 years now. I understand they need to make sure they have coverage, but they aren't forthright with this information. In the meantime, I went about 10K in the hole this year waiting for work. Yes I will take some of the blame, I should have started looking for another job sooner rather than later, but they kept telling me more work, more accounts...and then after awhile I hearing nothing and now have a second part-time job.

I haven't made the 'minimum line count' in months. Not even close.

contacted me about a month ago with the same song and dance of obtaining 3 "large" accounts, 1 of which was small and they were already doing (okay which is it, 3 large accounts or 2 large and 1 small), and wanting me to come back to work for them. When they told me that they had not obtained the "large" accounts yet but they were bringing MTs onboard already, I told them NO THANK YOU, oh and by the way, completely remove my number from your system. Like you, I went in the hole working for them on the empty promises of more work coming in, etc., etc., and nothing happening. If it did happen then they hired so many MTs that you were lucky if you were able to get 150 lines A DAY. So many unanswered emails and IMs, begging for more work, asking for more accounts (had 4, all empty) and only then to find out that there were so many of us out there with the exact same problem. I finally decided to move on and glad that I did. Nope, not making a lot of money, but making some and have work on a daily basis, which I am extremely thankful for.

I wish I felt as confident about this whole job searching stuff as I did before I started looking. Have to admit it is kind of disheartening. So happy for those of you who are doing well and like the company you work for. Completely understand not wanting to disclose names. Thanks again everyone.

I haven't had much work for months. Since last summer actually. Can never make minimum. I have another part-time job so I'll survive, and I do like that company on a whole, but there has been NO WORK. They keep promising new accounts that never happen. Is it just me? Sounds like a pretty reasonable place to work. Hardly ever read any posts here about them so I assume, no news is good news and their employees must be fairly content. Just curious, as they seldom hire. No one answers my emails when I ask why my accounts have no work. It's been going on for a very long time, but so much worse now. I thought a new account was going ot start, but I haven't heard a word about it. Is something going on that I don't know about? I've just started working with Oracle, and seem to like it okay so far. However, I am reading all these posts here about pay decreases, no work, and no communication. Is this all sudden and not typical of them? I'm a little worried now. I haven't seen any recent posts about a lack of work at Oracle. Have things settled down to where everyone has sufficient work? I'm working for them PT and have only had 1-2 occasions where I've run out of work; however, my FTE is running out of work on an increasingly frequent basis and, if there's sufficient work at Oracle, I'd be interested in switching over to them as a FT position. I know that Oracle/OTI's ASR is done on Bayscribe. I have worked on Bayscribe before and like the platform (for straight typing anyway as that's all I've done on Bayscribe). But my question, is Oracle's ASR as good as I've been told?
