Anyone else apply for Oracle and never hear anything? - S.T.
Posted: Dec 21, 2012
I applied several months back when they posted and then again about a week ago with the latest job offering. Am I the only one? Just frustrated, need a job. Thank you.

I also applied in the recent past. I met their requirements. I never heard back, unfortunately. It would be nice to hear something... anything :)

I honestly think they are so inundated by applicants' resumes that they can't reply to everyone.
I have 25+ years transcribing acute care, a degree, have always worked in the medical field including patient care in-hospital in trauma and surgical units, managerial positions, writing medical training manuals, and other 'extras' but now....no response to resumes.
Just a year and half ago I sent resumes out to six companies and was offered a job at every one (including Oracle). Not any more. I think you have to be the first to respond to have it looked at.
It's scary and sad how the field keeps changing so fast, especially over the last year. I think now every non-"global" company is flooded with the resumes of experienced MTs looking to get away from the offshoring MTSOs that are monopolizing the industry with the negative changes of: get paid 8/4 and be grateful! demographics and specs are more time-consuming than ever but you now must do it without pay! work every holiday! work every weekend! minimal PTO! clock in and out for every minute even though you are paid for production! have QA criticize you daily for trivia that would not matter to the actual dictating physician!, etc. It's crazy.
The reason I had to look for a new job last year? Because the owner of my wonderful company, who had been in business (with a great reputation) for 30 years, retired because she could no longer compete with the under-bids of offshoring MTSOs. And guess what? Out of those six companies that I mention above, two sold out to Nuance and two sold out to MedQuist/M*Modal. Seriously. In one year. These were all long-time companies and in one year four out of the six are gone.
And since I chose to go with one of those who were bought-out, I'm thinking positive and going to give one of those offshoring "Big Two" a try, but I honestly can't believe what's happened to this industry. Up until last year I used to tell my husband that even if I won the lottery, I would keep working because I loved my job. I don't say that any longer.

I applied there as well as a few other places and nothing.

OTI sounds like a decent company to work for, but the pay per line offered is low and depending on the account, you won't make enough to pay the bills. This company is also notorious for not having enough work. Your miles may vary, but I was truly disappointed and should have rejected their offer when I had that nagging feeling about the pay per line.
I hope you have found somewhere you like. If not, why stay at a - company you apparently loathe? nm
For the record, the people were decent to work with. The Bayscribe platform was decent, although it is not a version of Microsoft word.
But, I personally won't work for a company that over hires and therefore has a lack of available work, and and truly the pay per line was just too low for the crappy accounts.
My experience has been different. While 8cpl is certainly not top wages, sm - comt

it certainly beats some of the other wages offered by some other companies. I LOVE Bayscribe, and find I can do 300-350 lines per hour, which gives me an acceptable living. I have a busy ER account and rarely run out of work. The 2 sisters have always been kind and fair to me. Yes, I see that on some of the new clinic accounts they are offering less, but clinic work usually pays less, I thought. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Oracle applications - Me Too!

I have applied at Oracle in the past and they said they would "keep my resume on file" and contact me if there were further openings. I am sure they have done this with a lot of the applications they receive. Why not keep a master file and insted of placing an ad, contact those MTs first and see if the are still interested. I agree, they are bombarbed, but they don't have to be. A little organization would help out everyone. I guess these companies don't really; just place and ad, get a gajillion repies and pick the first 10 that come in. Oh well!

I agree with the above poster that I make a decent wage on Bayscribe and the sisters are GREAT to work for. I have been with them almost a year and I have to say I like all the accounts I am on.
To "Me Too!" - They probably don't take the time to keep a master file because they would spend more time pouring over it and contacting MTs that may no longer be on a job hunt, may have retired or just might not be interested. Easier to post an ad and at least they know all the applicants they get are actively looking for work. As for how they choose who to test/hire, who knows, but I am sure they have a system that works for them.

I love working for OTI! I've been with them since 2007. I actually love Bayscribe. It's so much easier to use than most of the platforms I've worked on. The sisters are great and truly seem to care about their employees. In addition, to my knowledge, none of the accounts are on VR. I HATE VR and can't make half of what I make typing. I tried it with another company, but decided to stick with OTI.
With OTI, you set your own hours. You don't have to say you'll work 8-4 (or whatever) and then be chained to your seat for that period of time. I work on and off all day, whenever is best for me. We do have to fill out a monthly calendar saying how many lines a day we want to work. But we're not committed to certain hours.
As far as running out of work, it's hard to keep a good balance of work available at ANY company, especially one in which you don't "have" to work set hours or lines a day. When MTs fill out the monthly line commitment form but then don't type the lines they have committed to type, the accounts fall behind, hospitals and clinics get unhappy and threaten to go somewhere else, so the company is forced to hire more people. Then, when the original MTs decide to actually meet their commitments, they whine because there is not enough work.
The ONLY thing I wish OTI did differently was have employee positions with benefits. But that's it! I'll probably be with OTI as long as they don't go to VR, or as long as I can do straight typing for them.

Glad you love them. Do you type or do you transcribe?
I had applied to Phoenix Medcom a few months ago when I first saw their post since I thought it was an interesting concept but hadn't heard anything from them. Now I see their new post and they want office experience within the past 5 years, which explains why I hadn't heard from them (it's been about 20 years since I've worked in a doc's office and transcribing for 15). Has anyone interviewed with them and actually gotten a job with them? I'm just ...

I'm interested in applying for the MTS job posted, but I can't find a place on their web site to send a resume. What am I missing? I called the 800 number and it just had a menu for unrelated departments. ...
I just got an e-mail from a recruiter from Nuance asking me if I would like to apply for a job; i.e. they took over my former place of employment's transcription department and I had originally applied so I could stay on, but then decided not to-thus they still had my contact info. The recruiter said that they had merged with Transcend and that there was plenty of work, etc. I do need a job as my unemployment benefits will be running out by the beginning of the new year, or sooner if phas ...
Who can answer my questions?
1. When is a better time to apply to companies:
Beginning of December 2009
or
beginning of January 2010 ?
2. What VR platform/software does Focus use?
Is their transcription test timed?
3. What VR platform/software does Medquist use?

Just want to be sure my fellow MTs are well informed. If you apply at Teletrak, be prepared to be offered 8 cpl for 65 VBC line - this amounts to approximately 30% reduction in pay with the negative spaces. I used several old reports and figured line counts all ways and it was almost 30% less each time with VBC. I was told by the recruiter, "You'll probably have to work a few extra hours a day to make what you're used to, but in order to keep the client in a long-term ...
Never heard of such a thing! If this company does any outsourcing I hope the outsourced transcriptions also have to undergo this. This is totally absurd! ...
I would totally be leery of this job. They are liars and cheats and are always wanting you to work your days off and over, but pay you NO OVERTIME!! THIS COMPANY SUCKS AND DOES NOT GIVE A RATS BEHIND ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES. I have worked there 4 years and never got a raise, much less any respect for the 21 years I have worked as an MT. They have no respect for their employees. I WOULD NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. THE REVIEWS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES......... ...
besides the resume do you add--how much selling of your skill, etc? Some companies won't open an attachment, so I get the feeling they don't want much more. My feeling is if they see the resume and want more info they will contact me, but never sure.
Thanks for any insight.

I'll tell you how certain I am that there is NO future in medical transcription... anywyere: Last week a "good" MT job, onsite in a medical clinic, a short drive from where I live, was advertised. I didn't apply.

Did anyone else apply to this company in the past few days? I took the test and was waiting for a response from the company. Today I sent an email to follow up, and I received a reply stating that I had failed to submit a resume with my application and thus would not be considered for a position.
I truly don't remember seeing that I needed to submit a resume. Did anyone else apply and do you remember if the instructions said to submit a resume? Ughhh. What a stupid mistake I made!!! ...

Thank you in advance! By the way - anyone work there? From what I have learned is an MT, depending on the position you are hired, may get benefits from the Diskriter or benefits from the hospital in which you are assigned? Is that a good gig? Hospital benefits rock! I miss them! ...
I sent an email to the recruiter for Keystrokes asking that very question, but never got a response.
I don't think its crazy to want to know about their benefits, or the pay, before you even bother to go through the whole process of applying and testing. Am I wrong?
Set me straight folks! Thanks! ...
