I have sent tons of resumes, NOT ONE reply, NOT ONE call...I have 14 years of experience and I need a job ASAP. Used to be easy to find a job in this field. I am so tired and disheartened by these companies who place ads, but do not take the time to even respond via auto reply or ANYTHING....

Couple this with the fact that a majority of companies feel they no longer need American MTs and are hiring left and right from overseas, we are at a definite disadvantage right now...at least if we want decent accounts, pay, and benefits.

Interestingly, a head hunter once told me to put my name in the subject line, that it catches their eye, and also a note if I have experience with their platform, such as "have Bayscribe experience." If I send a resume it now reads "cj's resume for ______ position. Have ________ experience." Obviously I use my actual name and not cj. She also said if they interview a bunch of people and then want to go back to a particular person, having your name right in the subject line makes it so easy for them to find to you since it is likely they are facing 100s of resumes. Since I have done that, I have never not had a response to a resume I have sent!

[ In Reply To ..]I always put my name in the subject line too, and have always gotten a response. Also, on the first line of my resume below my contact information I have in all caps: 20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. It's not proper resume format, but I get their attention fast.

[ In Reply To ..]I understand how you feel and I think there are a lot of us in the same boat of job hunting. I have been looking since October, sending out resumes almost daily, done loads of testing, have had a few interviews, but so far nothing pans out. Try not to get frustrated - which I know is easier said than done LOL! I am honestly getting to my wit's end and wondering how we will pay the mortgage soon and do any holiday shopping. I have even started looking outside of MT work and so far nothing - It is just slow out there all around!

[ In Reply To ..]The most prompt reply I got was from Focus Infomatics. I was afraid of it after all the negative posts on this board. At my job when I complained about a doc that needed to be traditional rather than Speech, I was told that Dictaphone would rarely take them off Speech even though we complain. Why would Dictaphone or Nuance be telling my company what they can and cannot do? This is scary. If Nuance tells our companies what to do, then are we not working for Focus anyway? Maybe I made a mistake learning VR. I should have gotten a job on traditional. If Dictaphone and Nuance is going to take over the world, I really don't want to work for them.

Are you as tired as I am of making dumb little corrections in the ISR system? This morning, I am spending all my time “uncapitalizing” regular words in the middle of sentences. Where does it come up with the underline in the middle of laboratory values (1._4). It adds a colon after dates and this morning the abbreviation, MD, is after some of the headings. One of my backup accounts is nothing but garbage. Almost completely ESL. They can BARELY speak English as it is, but they also choose to whisper and talk as if they have a mouth full of marbles. Does anybody know of MTSOs that don't require transcription testing? I'm so tired of spending time testing only to be offered very low cpl in my opinion. Is anyone else tired of all looking and searching for the "correct" specific formats for every hospital. Spend a LOT of time doing this.. I guess I am just getting tired of all of this. WOuld love to be able to sit and transcribe and not have to keep checking the "peculiarities" of every different type of report and/or dictator. All that and a cut in pay too......live is so good (sarcasm). ...
