Does anybody know of MTSOs that don't require transcription testing? I'm so tired of spending time testing only to be offered very low cpl in my opinion. I've been an MT for 20+ years and am trying to find a part-time job. However, all this testing is really starting to wear me down. Aren't there any MTSOs out there that just call references anymore? I'm an IC and have lots of references and regularly do fill-in work. However, I just want to find something on a more regular basis. Thanks

I also ask, if this job position is for VR as I won't work for 2,3,4 cents a line, can't make a living and also to low for the skill provided.

Don't they think if my skills were suspect I would have been fired long ago instead of keeping good jobs for years? I would have kept my present job if they hadn't treated me like S____ recently.

Not being argumentative, but only trying to educate myself. In what way is testing IGNORANT? In what sense are you using IGNORANT? Please forgive me for asking, but am a word freak and am not seeing how the meaning of IGNORANT relates to testing. If you could educate me, I would appreciate it. TIA!

in reference to testing would only be used by the seasoned MT. She feels that her resume and references should slide them in the door. Testing, on the other hand, for a lesser experienced MT is mandatory and if we were to say it is "ignorant" the replies would fly of "who do we think we are thinking we shouldn't have to test" "We have to pay our dues" and such. Anyone can have a beefy resume and anyone can have a ton of friends, or work references that will say great things about them but a company has to see first hand your experience. Otherwise, EVERY MT would have a job based on non factual records. JMO.

Got my resume out there, received a phone call and was hired on the spot that day. Sometimes you can get lucky like that but I believe most of the time testing is the norm. I also have a lot of experience with every work type for over 30 years, so that might have something to do with not being asked to test.

today with the job compitition and people fuging the resume it isn't really a bad thing. I have a co-worker that has worked for MQ for 5 years doing ER notes and she kinda stinks at it. If she didn't have spell checker she wouldn't be able to do this job! I mean companies can't just go on the resume alone and most seem "far too busy" to check references. I am totally in agreement with testing being a pain in the part that I am currently sitting on, but if you want the job you have to take the test!!!

of these tests is crazy. You can tell in a report or two if someone can do the job or not. There's no need for 3 multiple choice/fill in the blank tests and 10 dictations to type.....

Welcome to the real world. It sure is a time consuming disappointment sometimes to have to go through it but there are people here all the time that are just testing, testing, testing TRYING to get a job. Frustrating isn't it?

I'm searching for a new job as the one I have now runs out of work consistently. I'm just very frustrated at the lengthy applications and tests. It is especially disheartening when you go through the process and finally get to a recruiter just to be told of a position that is either hours or pay you can't accept. I was recently laid off as the account I was working on went to India. I desperately need to be working as I have 2 kids to support. I was offered a job at 0.03 a line editing. mixing up the words "offshore" and "outsource." Outsource is what the hospitals do when they send transcription to M-Modal or whomever. Offshore is when it goes to our "international labor partners" in India. Outsourcing jobs we can live with; offshoring is starving us to death. Get it right already!!!!!!!!! ...

Is anyone else tired of all looking and searching for the "correct" specific formats for every hospital. Spend a LOT of time doing this.. I guess I am just getting tired of all of this. WOuld love to be able to sit and transcribe and not have to keep checking the "peculiarities" of every different type of report and/or dictator.
