Oracle still hasn't changed - it seems

This settlement was a few months ago, but it doesn't appear that anything has really changed at OTI because of it. As far as I can tell (I work for them), we are all still machines and are all expendable. If they don't "like" you, for whatever reason, being a disabled MT or being too old or whatever, they will simply starve you out of work.

How do they keep getting away with this discrimination! I guess the real question should be: Why do we put up with it!
Maybe it's time for a union!

I am GLAD that they had to pay. I have never worked for them, but I hate discrimination of any kind. I worked in an MQ office back a very long time ago when they had regional offices and one of the people there bragged that they "had no Asians" working in that office. Can you imagine? While I realize that that was just one person talking, it was still discrimination, which I hate. Although I am not Asian, it really made me disappointed and angry. And I suspect that with Oracle, a lot of non-disabled are concerned about their attitudes, too. At one time I had applied to Oracle but I would never ever work for them now. And I am glad they got their butt nailed. I hope they get caught and busted each and every time.

I really don't get how some people think they are better than others? Though this mentality has persisted through the ages. Humans have the capability to be rational, intelligent beings. Capability, it seems, is the key here. I believe that the majority are incapable...incapable of reason, incapable of intelligence, and incapable of love!

Needs to be way more of this going on. MTs need to stand up for themselves and report this sort of thing to the proper entities.

It was about twice the amount I was expecting, if I was to get anything at all! I'm pleasantly shocked! The DOL had called me about a month ago to ask me several questions about when I had worked there. The letter included with the check from Landmark said that they don't agree with it, but agreed to pay it anyway. LOL Hopefully there will be some other former Landmark employees who will also be getting a nice surprise in their mailboxes! ...

I haven't had much work for months. Since last summer actually. Can never make minimum. I have another part-time job so I'll survive, and I do like that company on a whole, but there has been NO WORK. They keep promising new accounts that never happen. Is it just me? Sounds like a pretty reasonable place to work. Hardly ever read any posts here about them so I assume, no news is good news and their employees must be fairly content. No one answers my emails when I ask why my accounts have no work. It's been going on for a very long time, but so much worse now. I haven't seen any recent posts about a lack of work at Oracle. Have things settled down to where everyone has sufficient work? I'm working for them PT and have only had 1-2 occasions where I've run out of work; however, my FTE is running out of work on an increasingly frequent basis and, if there's sufficient work at Oracle, I'd be interested in switching over to them as a FT position. I know that Oracle/OTI's ASR is done on Bayscribe. I have worked on Bayscribe before and like the platform (for straight typing anyway as that's all I've done on Bayscribe).
