Op note diva? - PAMT

Posted: Jul 19, 2011

Did anyone see the ad this morning for an op note diva?  Where did it go?

Yes I saw it. Was going to apply until I read in the sm - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
archives that it is a bad company. So decided not to.

I notice the ad has already disappeared, too. - Maybe it was a scam-job.

Op note diva - nn

I didn't see it, but would love to know what company it was. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have an application on file there. LUV those op notes!!! E-mail if you don't want to post it here. TIA.

OP Diva company name/thought about 10 cpl - VA MT

[ In Reply To ..]
The company named within that OP Diva ad was Cornerstone Professional Services
in Lincoln Park, NJ

I disagree with the other poster who said 10 cpl is chintzy for someone with 8 to 10 years of experience and strong suit of ESL.

I have 25+ years of FT hospital MT experience and excel with ESL dictators. The last time I had a raise for anything, including offering to do the most difficult accounts and ESLs was in 1998 to 10 cpl. And, I am lucky that I still manage to make that. I left a huge MTSO who wanted to cut my pay to 9 cpl and likely less (especially if VR took over the accounts I was on) - and every single other place I have applied has offered 8 cpl to someone with 25+ years of experience, so 10 cpl is evidently now the new 12 or 11 cpl that some of us way back when received or hoped to. And, any of those still lucky enough to still be getting that and not being cut in pay.

I wish it wasn't so, but 10 cpl is top pay for many MTs nowadays, least it seems that way from my point of view?

I cut and pasted the original OP Diva ad below, for anyone interested in reading it.

Cornerstone Professional Services

Lincoln Park, NJ

We are looking for a full time OP note diva for a small hospital. We prefer to hire MTs with 8 to 10 years of experience. OP notes become available on the system for late first shift, and a 9 a.m. EST start time is preferable. This is primarily Monday through Friday. Being able to put in 4-6 hours over the weekend is preferred. We are seeking a minimum production of 800 to 1000 lines daily, but currently these numbers fall well below our OP note needs. This account is heavy ESLs overall, though less so for the operative notes. The team is small and supportive, making the working environment quite pleasant for a team player.

EQUIPMENT: Your own computer with XP and Word2000/2003 NO EXCEPTIONS. Infinity 1 or 2 pedal. High speed internet, cable or DSL required; our system does not work with satellite or dial-up. Platform is MedRite-XL (provided), your expander or ours within MedRite.

This position is independent contractor without benefits. We pay .10 cpl including spaces and normals, which will be provided to the MT we hire for this opening. We looking to hire and train quickly, IMMEDIATE OPENING for the right person.

Cumbersome platform - me

[ In Reply To ..]
Worked there for a few weeks - the Medrite XL program is very slow for uploads etc even with DSL....easy to use and the people were nice. But time is money in this biz and to wait between reports wasn't for me. The rate had started higher than 10 until you got used to the platform and then gradually after 2 months went down to 10 so you were still rolling along...don't know if that has changed tho. As I said, nice people, slow uploads/downloads.

For all the experience and hit-the-ground-running - expertise they want, 10cpl is kinda chintzy!

[ In Reply To ..]

that's funny because I just read a post the other day telling someone 8 cents a line for - IC was good, sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Of course, I think that is not an acceptable pay for IC as after paying your self-employment taxes at tax time, which is 15% of your pay as your employer pays 7.5% when you're an employee, you're going to be hit with a lot of taxes for being an IC. So I would never take an IC position for 8 cents a line. But it seems that is what MT has gone to, little pay for a lot of hard work and aggravation to type a bunch of physicians who could care less about the way they dictate. I wonder if they know the people trying to type their work are trying to pay their bills??

I guess if a person is new, and doesn't know any better, - they might think 8-10 cpl is good pay.

[ In Reply To ..]
That's pretty hard to swallow, though, when you used to make $28/hour.
10 is good right now - me
[ In Reply To ..]
You can make $24/hour at 8 cpl if you have the right platform...I had to for awhile - but 10 cpl is the best I've seen in the last 18 months....I used to make $42/hour at 12 cpl - (350 lph) but those days are long gone for now thanx to greedy companies offshoring due to the economy. So $28 isn't that difficult to achieve, IMO. Just saying.

It was removed for not providing minimum required info. NM - Moderator

Calling Macro Diva
Sep 29, 2013

Just wondering if it's okay/possible to put my "Call" macros back towards the end of General_Macro? And if so, where?  I tried moving them to just before End Sub and also before Page 1:Selection..., but those locations didn't work.  I'm getting an occasional errant "g" or "L" (apparently related to the GramLiter macro) at the very beginning of my VR text when I run it now, which I didn't have at all before when the "called' macros were at the end.  Was part of the fix ...

Paging Macro Diva
Jan 19, 2014

Would enjoy talking with Macro Diva about all things macro!  I've written one big macro with which I preprocess virtually all of my transcribed documents.  First, it identifies the document template type, e.g., office note, letter, hospital discharge, echocardiogram, PV study, etc.  It then displays a dialog box with drop-down lists from which I select the ordering physician, dictating physician, date of study, date dictated. etc.  (The date of transcription is, of ...

Calling On Macro Diva Again, If You're Still About.
May 15, 2014

I don't know where to begin with trying to record a macro for this need myself.  On my main account, we're required to list meds without any following punctuation, but due to other MTSOs also subbing on it (who apparently don't have any specs or just don't have to follow the same specs we do), the lists invariably come through on VR with totally inconsistent punctuation.  Such as this: MEDICATIONS:Ativan,ZofranDexamethasone.DiltiazemLanoxin. But should be this: M ...

Question For Leads - Has Anyone Else Ever Dealt With "Diva" MTs?
Oct 29, 2009

A question for leads - has anyone else ever dealt with diva MTs?  You know, the type who (when their QA isn't so great) get personally offended when you do your job and point out their repeated errors?  The type who complain about not getting enough money but yet absolutely refuse to work over 8 hours to achieve just that when they just start out, and the type who complain about not enough work yet refuse to help out when the workflow is high on the weekend?  The type who, be ...

Open Note From An MME
Feb 13, 2010

I have come on this site for awhile, mostly because this is a place where everyone gets what you do and can understand what you're going crazy over. Try telling your neighbor the ESLs are getting to you today and you get what I mean. However, since I have become an MME (in October), this has become a not so friendly place. I love doing QA work. I have been in this field for 20 years and feel I can and do help MTs out. When I make a correction, it's to give the MT some feedback, ...

A Note I Received

While on Facebook last night, I mentioned about going back to school to be a vet tech. and one of the things I mentioned was that it was work that would NOT be oursourced to India. Some guy from India sent me a message asking what was wrong with sending work to India. I could have said more to him, but I left i ...
